    If you recall the plot of A Christmas Carol, it did require Scrooge to have a friend (Marley) send those spirits. Louella falls short on that requirement. I wonder how that poor little dog is now.

    The tattoos, fine suits, bodyguards, and vague 'business business' is classic Yakuza. We're given a family name and the Imperial family pool is small, so not related.

    Japanese society is very complex. While homosexuality has never been a crime in Japan and 68 percent are supportive of those who are gay, there is no gay marriage since the constitution proscribed after WWII defines marriage as being between a man and woman. Partners resort to adult adoption to insure legal rights. Additionally, employers often enforce the Confucian tenets of marriage and procreation. Unmarried males are not eligible for promotion.

    I would imagine a man as powerful as Kenji's father already knows. How could he not being trailed constantly by bodyguards? His desire would be to keep it discreet.
