Ai already looking at River as a new brother tells us more than anything how far this relationship has progressed.
At some point, River will have to come to terms with Kenji being a workaholic and get him accustomed to some balance between work and play.
If living in a hotel is better for Ai than living at home, it speaks volumes.
Honestly, it could have been worse. He now knows his mother loved him and only wanted the best for him. Plus he has family he can get to know. After he processes this event, he can move on.
We get back to the subconscious thing. All the while he was doing this over months, he knew he was doing something he could be fired for. He readily admitted it knowing at some level the result. He's disgusted with working a minimum wage job, so he gets himself fired.
Having been an employer, I would have fired Todd too. It was too much of a sneaky and backhanded screw you behavoir to ignore. Poor management skills can be corrected.
Well, when the world dumps a load of lemons on you, make some lemonade. Todd made this mess and now he has to live with the consequences.
I think it speaks well for both Todd and Damien they didn't come to actual blows. It was like a scene from some slapstick movie.
It might be weird, but Miller is a weird guy.
If Todd isn't his child, he's doing a good job of hiding it. He's given both sons equal opportunities. He wants a relationship with Todd and the bits about the job and 'finding a girl' are just his clueless way of worrying about Todd's future rather than the put downs they seem to be. For all the hate directed at him here, he's not really so bad.
Todd had been playing with fire all along posting those stickers at work. Did he subconsciously want to be fired? It's a possibility.
Damien shows a side of himself we hadn't seen, both vulnerability and a kind of honor. He wasn't going to rat out Todd to save himself. He's not as bad as we thought.
So Todd has an opportunity here, he can hunt for another easy job or throw himself into art full-time.
Now, what has hit Barrett so hard to pull back in his shell?
I had many odd and eclectic activities when I was younger. One was hanging around an ambulance service. I never worked there, but sometimes I ending up driving an ambulance, carrying stretchers, or (less pleasantly) moving bodies. (Always try to go for the legs, unless they're mangled.)
I think what we're seeing from Mr . Miller is how he learned to be 'a man' from his own parents. The more we learn I can see him as a victim himself of his own upbringing. We haven't heard of any grandparents on either side of Todd's family. Are they all dead?
( @Superpride it's okay to speak, we don't bite. Well... mostly.)
