  1. This is a small, economically composed little gem. You may have wanted something grander, but maybe smaller is best here.
  2. I enjoyed your college tour, especially. Wish I could have tagged along!

    April 1 : Begin

    A fantastic first, Emi!
  4. I love the ending to this chapter, as it is so very true. Maturing seniors are so often walking human contradictions. No wonder parents go crazy trying to figure them out. And for the record, I still have my Legos.

Just when Scott finally hoped the storm clouds were beyond the horizon, too. He certainly is in a jam, now. If there were bumps in the road, they just turned into man-eating potholes. Thanks for continuing to read then story!

    Chapter 13

This chapter made me feel warmth, welcome and happiness. Whatever liam may discern later on, he knows he has his surrogate family as a foundation. You write this with such depth and convincing feeling. A very lovely chapter.

You have some very interesting thoughts here. I really like the depth of your consideration. Of course, I can't actually say anything....

But who is counting? And what's a little heart medication between friends, eh?

You are full of questions! I regret that I cannot answer any of them, alas. I can only say that there may be answers in the future. But your thoughts are gratifying to me in that you are thinking hard about the story, and for that I am exceedingly grateful. Many, many thanks!

Can't help but agree with your last observation...police custody is probably safer than being in Kenny's car. Scott could not have reasonably expected to avoid all of his past. What a pity it was waiting for him at the dock. Thanks for your observant reading!

It is good to wonder about poor Graham; at the same time, Scott has to be in a complete turmoil. He probably hoped the idyll with Graham would last. Sadly, it didn't. Cliffie? What cliffie? Oohhhhh, that little precipice?

Guilty, as charged. Sorry about that. But there will be more next week!

Scott wants so much to be with Graham that he will do anything - including the raw honesty you speak of - to hang onto that. And he knows that it's not only Graham who changed his life, I think. But then, Marc and Javier aren't in the stateroom with our boys, are they? Thanks so much for your comments!

Your comment shows that not only has Graham gotten under Scott's skin, but that Scott has gotten to Graham, too. Otherwise, given his brother's experience, Graham wouldn't have given Scott the time of day. And I'm sure you're right about Scott as a predator: he threw people away, and found more prey. Thanks so much for your thoughts and remarks.
  15. @AC...this is such a wonderful find! Where was this when I studied Grieg?

"Does that sound like a plan?" Graham was smiling, sitting on a chair jammed into a too-small table with Ellie and himself in the mess area. It was lunchtime, and a scratch meal of thrown-together leftovers had been picked over by the scientific party and the crew. The atmosphere on board the Feigenbaum was a little feverish as everyone anticipated the ship's arrival at Sand River early in the afternoon. Nearly everyone was looking forward to a real meal on shore and looked askance at
  17. You describe love and heartbreak with elegance and economy. You did well to make me so sad. It is a tribute to your skills.
  18. If there is an inner light common to all of us, it surely shone in our friend Skinny. If there is a love to bind us all together, it dwelt with us in him. And even if such things be fantasy, the love and light I have read tonight testify to hearts that yearn and tears that burn.
  19. I found one version of this on YouTube labeling it 'Unrequited Love.' I can hear that.
  20. Once again, I am re-taken by your characters and the way you place us in their world. I very much like seeing things from Bailey's perspective.
  21. I kind of felt this one this morning...
  22. And now I have to go and find where I can buy one of these. You sold me! I have made chili and other dried bean recipes before, and all have the underdone bean problem. Ditto my yellow-split-pea soup....

There's a twist. What's Nate doing up at that hour? I like the way you portray Cam's need to be in secret. It is perfect for the age.

Cam is an interesting kid, writing about common themes. And he took the moment to notice Nate. A week of introspection ahead?
  25. Not preachy - this is a cry against the insanity of inhumanity. We are witnesses, and if we are true to ourselves and our fellow creatures, we will be workers for a better world. You say this far more eloquently than I can hope to.
