    Poet

Your idea of a cozy contemplation can be rather different from mine ... Anguish is a powerful poem, speaking to me more directly than I'd like. Same with Faking it. Blessed is more what I'd expect - Spring in all its glory. Renewal, beauty, the natural world and your relationship with it. Thank you for these but I'd like it if the next lot were a reflection of you in a happier mood.
  2. I decided to give this a go despite the fact that I don't get on with fantasy usually. You did a really good job and I did at least read it all, but I'm afraid it did nothing to change my mind about the genre. Oh well. Nothing to do with you or your writing, more my taste (or lack thereof) ...
  3. I enjoyed this a lot but it left me wanting more - both what happens next but more so, I would've loved to know more of how they got to the stage you finished with. Was it plain sailing? Did his father interfere? How did it affect Darin? Still, thanks for the story as it is.
  4. You're doing better than me. That's what I'm hoping to get on with this weekend ...

    Cursed

It's very easy to imagine you're cursed in the sleepless small hours but you're not. OK? A better night's sleep will see you more on an even keel.

    Jigsaw

And perfection is naught but a dream. So very, very true, yet how many people ruin their lives trying ... Thanks for this, Gary.
  7. Thanks, Gary. I'm very fond of this - it's not deep but it did the job.

    The Tale

@Headstall I'm so glad you enjoyed it and weren't put off by the format. Why did I do it that way? It just seemed right - certainly not to alienate people. Sir Knight should be hot, I think.
  9. Thanks, Gary. It was one of the first things I wrote and I surprised myself.

    Rule #3

This the first story of yours that I've read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was fascinating - watching them trying to make such an unconventional arrangement work equally and honestly.

    The Tale

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. A challenge? Well, yes in some ways but more importantly, I had enormous fun writing it.

    Hold the elevator

Public and private personas can be very different and of course, if you only ever see one of tbem, you make all kinds of assumptions. Cyril's fussing about contacting his boyfriend takes on a whole new meaning when the abuse is uncovered. Very good but it did leave me wanting more.

    The Tale

The pursuit of money does strange things, perhaps? The queen ... well, queens are rather a law unto themselves ...

    The Tale

I'm glad the format didn't get in the way of your enjoyment. Drewcula is currently awaiting an injection of maths - whether I'll understand any of it is quite another matter ...

    The Tale

If it is indeed wonderful, you helped make it so, dear friend.

    Thanks, Val.

Of course, your comment had to be in verse ... Thank you!

    Dissonants

I loved the prelude and fugue - so true and the visual element is so apt and clever. The Maker is one to return to - as already commented about another of these poems, different meanings can be gleaned from every reading. 'Just a few poems' indeed ...
  19. As it's my first anthology as an author, I'll admit to being a little nervous ... @Renee Stevens I don't seem to have any available story actions. Is this the norm for antho stories or is it a symptom of the troubles we had getting the thing to post properly? If I wasn't aware already of how much care and attention goes into GA's anthologies, I certainly am now.

    The Story

Good! A horror story doesn't want to be comfortable ... Does Dave get eaten? Well, he certainly thinks that's his fate. Thanks for reading.
  21. A bard decides to take action to recover unpaid monies due. A perfectly reasonable task which involves him in unreasonable and unforeseen consequences.

    The Story

Good! A horror story doesn't work if the reader isn't at least a bit freaked ...

    The Story

Yes, horror isn't one of the more usual categories on GA. I'm like you - I don't mind having spiders around. I'm glad you enjoyed the story.

    The Story

    Thank you for persevering!
  25. I've just posted a story (Incy, wincy spider https://www.gayauthors.org/story/northie/incy-wincy-spider/1) . When I posted the story content into the editor, I selected the not pre-formatted option. Using this option, I've lost all my italics. It's mildly irritating this time round, but the anthology story waiting for publication is about half italics and I don't know whether the italics are there. I miss being able to preview content before publication. If I use the pre-formatted option, the line spacing doubles. Word processing is either Word or Open office, using Chrome, Windows latest versions.
