Trouble was, to Pete, the TV wasn't just an electrical item - Garry was a person, in a way. That made it difficult. It might've been Garry's first TV, but who knows where else he's turned up ...

I think you'd have to possess a heart of stone not to - poor Pete! It does have a noir-ish quality to it but I wouldn't have considered it for Hallowe'en. Glad you enjoyed it, Addy.

I wrote a prompt response last week, but to a less recent one - 589. The opening chapter of a new series called Soul Music. -
They both need setting to music. Like tim, the first poem just feels like a madrigal, with just a brief excuse for some plangent melancholy. For some reason, the second immediately suggested the songs of Peter Warlock. I think it is the sleep motif. However, unlike Warlock's sometimes disturbing songs, this lyric is replete with contentment, love, and the comfort of being back with your belovéd.

From the little I know of Mike, I very much doubt that apathy would be his response to your distress. I hope you can anchor yourself once more, tim, and that this current pall of self-doubt lifts soon.

Pete Simpson stood on his doorstep, watching the delivery guys unload his latest acquisition, a fifty inch, ultra-thin, flat screen television. Waiting around is a pain. As a percussionist, I can do an awful lot of it. Music is great for losing yourself in. Geoff as quarry? I don't think Tony means it in a predatory way, more, a target, somebody he doesn't want to let slip.
