Took a break from correcting computer answer sheets ( quick on paper, frankly) and then found a gem of a chp to restore my spirits and put a bit of life in the old parts. this is such fun to read but filled with a subtext about respect and sincerity. one of the top reads on GA at the moment. well done!!

Need a gay version of an 18th-century comic opera. This is it. Every chapter is a (wet?) dream. Meet Maddox and Jonathan who find that opposites most certainly do attract. This is a 5***** story.

Macular D is horrible. My mother lost her sight in one eye in less than a few days. My partner has the beginnings of it at 60. A realistic tale.

The Donna Leon collection is superb. I was lucky enough to get a grant to visit Venice at 17 and again years later on a crisp February day - virtually no tourists - breathing in the air of this, frankly, surreal village-city. Watch “Don’t look now” to get another scary view. PS Thanks for all these reviews. V enjoyable
