Although it’s a while since I was following the updates of this contemporary Covid tale, I strongly recommend it and it is a read you won’t regret. the family is filled with lifelike, relatable characters and we feel like neighbours as we shared/share the same Covid experience. A fun read but with depth. Enjoy it 😉

I really enjoyed this brief trip to Austria. The author writes really well with a nice sardonic sense of humour which works well for the older narrator. share more!!!

rjo I share your feelings. The trouble is that MR A is so good that we cannot predict the twists and turns…. And yet as in all his stories the logic is there, it’s like revisiting an Agatha Christie to see how she fools us. of all the great stories I have read on GA these last few years, those by Mark Arbour are in a league apart. regards x

Lovely. I almost missed this coda. the story is delightful. The wedding family nightmare scene is why I’m almost always “unable” to attend weddings. great writing ✍️

A beautifully-crafted story of a road trip that comes to an end with a bang - literally. But then enters an Amish family and two worlds collide, with another bang and a kiss. this is the story that you desperate want to have a continuation but that deep down you know it is complete and that the author has done her job superbly well. A treasure to read on a lazy Sunday morning. Thank you.

I’ve just my virginity to a vampire story! I’ve never watched vampires 🧛♂️ or read any of their stories, but this tale is intriguing me. Won’t be donating any blood though, sorry 😞 -
The final part of a wonderful piece of writing. It will resonate with all who are trying to move through the grieving process, but especially for those who have lost a twin or sibling. “I enjoyed it a lot” don’t seem to be the right words but I am glad I read it and finished moved but hopeful. well done, writer.

This is the equally powerful second part of an emotional triptych. Imperative to read the first part before. this is beautifully written, great use of language, to communicate the still raw emotions of a twin left behind. this is a writer with real skill.

A great story to relax with. I didn’t bother with it when it came out - a mistake. It’s a great pastiche of the show but the writing is high quality, the comments genuinely amusing, and if you try to answer the questions immediately you get a sense of how easy it is to make mistakes. reading this will make you want to read other great story’s by mr Aus.

Hard to review without spoilers but this is another hidden gem in the letters category. the pacing is perfect, the hints and clues are placed carefully and we have a beginning, middle and end in 1000+ words. this is like a miniature painting 🖼 and the quality of writing about/with emotions is excellent. off to read everything else!! thank you.

A letter so relevant in 2021. Even though one had friends, and anonymous lovers, who died in the 90’s, here in my adopted village it all seems ancient history. And yet, the tombstones scattered around of guys in their twenties. Here many more because of drug addiction as well. a Jewish rabbi taught me this: Civilisation passed from one generation to the next by the gossimer thread of MEMORY. For me, this letter by Michael is one such thread. Headstall, Gary, I believe, has written a very important piece. Beautifully written, as usual, but wow the message provoked me to awaken from my slumber. We must not forget! We owe it to our brothers, sisters, lovers and friends. read this!

So true - how did I escape when school and college friends went so fast or so slowly? My students today think Covid doesn’t exist for them, AIDS is ancient history and of no relevance to their life. Sadly, a fair few will find is us still a reality. thanks for your comment- Gary L -
I think this chp really gets the balance right. Yes, loads of tech info which is usually way above my understanding, but placed in the context of the new relationships it really worked and made the chapter accessible and so enjoyable for me. For me, it’sthe best “technology” chapter by far but also one of the most thought-provoking about the social skills our hero will need to develop asap. 5***** chp. THANKS 🙏
