I agree that Mark seems to be more happy in his own skin than ever. I hope it's catching!
-
Well so much for not obsessing about Chris! I don't blame Mark for ending the relationship with Anne, or even Chris for leaving Phil. If you're not in love and your not in like enough to make the relationship happy, then it's better in the long run to end it. But there are better ways than Mark and Chris chose.
-
At the very least, this might take his mind off of Chris. Obsessing after a breakup is unavoidable for most people temporarily. Obsessing continuously is unhealthy.

I find it unusual for a well-off family (anything i want I can buy) to drive to Mexico, with an adult child and her boyfriend adding another unusual aspect. Most American tourists fly to a resort area, what with all the cartel issues. I feel there may be more to these people than it seems.

I liked this, I didn't love it. Perhaps I'm being too literal, but its hard to get past disliking Scoot. I did like Don, I get the feeling this journey allowed him to learn more about his relationships with his loved ones. Unlike the famous "former member", I don't mind a somewhat open ending. I like to imagine how the characters continued on with their lives.
-
My question of why Scoot didn't tell anyone he would be out of contact was answered, but left me feeling even more negative towards him. I guess I can't blame Don for protecting his son, it's just who he is. Don still hasn't completely dealt with how he hurt his loved ones by cheating.

I have been binge reading this on a lazy Sunday morning and finally feel the urge to comment. I think that if I were Don, I wouldn't have felt the need to clean up Scoot's messes. Owen was wrong about Don being selfish. But, perhaps Don being the loving protector, and Sharon being the loving worrier is why Scoot is such a self absorbed jerk. I don't have a problem with his choice to stay in the cage, I'm accepting of people doing/dressing/saying whatever they want. It's his decision to not bother telling anyone that he would be out of contact that shows how little he cares about anyone other than himself. And now Don is doing everything he can to protect Scoot from the consequences of his choices. At some point, you have to let your kids live their own lives, lumps and all.

My initial impressions of Kevin are not positive! He is 58 years old, why is he caving to peer pressure as if he were still in high school? If you want a club soda rather than beer, then get a club soda! If you don't want Anne's hand on you, remove it! If you want to walk outside, do so! It's not difficult to see why this man is living his life in secret, online.

Wonderful ending! This was a very satisfying chapter! My only complaint is that we know nothing of Finn’s growth or his (hopefully?) improved relationship with Sawyer. But if that means another book down the line, I’m all in!

I think that Jonathan leaving Maggie would be the very best thing for Maggie in the long run. As long as she doesn't try to come home and live with her son!
-
I'm hoping Finn gets his familial relationships balanced before he tries for romance! When he does, will it be a Bruce/Tim or a Rachel/Karen? Probably not Rick!

Yes, I would agree! Both could use another good friend! Also, I'm still holding out hope for Bruce and Tim.

That was a very satisfying confrontation with Jonathan! He got a verbal smackdown from the whole town, while Marc got affirmation that he is well loved regardless of his orientation. Well done! Bruce and Rachel??? I did not see that coming!

Sounds like a place frozen in time! I stayed at a hotel in Treasure Island Florida that was permanently 1959! No one offered me any kind of extra services, though!

Our suspicions were confirmed, if these guys would have just listened to us in the first place this would have been found a long time ago. But how much fun would that have been? It's a good thing Bruce didn't try to come down the rickety stairs too, they might not have had any stairs left! It will be fun to see the parents reactions. I'm also looking forward to seeing Finn's reaction to the photo albums.

On the drive to Venice, Kadan managed to be all up in his own head and have his head in his ass, quite an accomplishment! At the ball, Gideon was so set on vengeance and suicide, he didn't care about anyone else, bloodsong or not. Will Caspian be able to knock some sense into him now that his vengeance is completed? Will Kadan enjoy playing tourist with his new sugar daddy?

I’m sad about the will situation, but I’m hopeful that they will find it somehow. I’m very happy that the giant wall between the brothers is starting to crumble a little. I think both brothers made their stubborn little minds up at an early age and refused to look at things from any other perspective than their own.

I believe that Bruce, the successful architect, wants to recreate the feel of Marc's mill in a new building.

Yes!!!!!!! Thanks for the relief! Sexy stuff notwithstanding, both of our heroes are bonding over disfunctional families. I wonder if Paul had Asperger's? His general lack of emotion combined with high intelligence makes me wonder. I'm hoping that Bruce is coming for a visit. But will he connect with Karen or Tim?

I knew there was something I didn’t like about that bitch! Trevor obviously sucks at picking women, maybe he should just stick to guys for awhile!

Wow, May and Paul! Total surprise to me. I love it, another link that joins Sawyer and Mark. There's going to be a tag-team paper search when they get back to Sawyer's.

Wow, you lifted us up, then dropped us to the floor! I loved the tenderness and love between Marc and Sawyer. It contrasts starkly with the cold arrogance of the parents. I'm looking forward to the parent drama, I have a feeling that you're going to take us on quite a ride! I wonder if they realize how many people love and support their son, something they have never done.

Wonderful chapter! We already figured that Reba and Tim knew, that Tim was "fluid" was a surprise. Karen was shocked, but rolled with it. Rick reacted expectedly, but I think he will accept it in time. If not, they're are plenty more workers out there. I have a feeling that Most of the rest of the crew knowing, was what was most hurtful to him. Rachel was instantly surprised, but instantly accepting. She will continue to be a great friend to Marc, and become a great friend to Sawyer. When Marc is able to feel human again, he will be relieved and happy that he doesn't need to hide from his friends anymore.

Hmmmm, Tianna is angsty, bitchy, petulant and annoying. Reminds me of someone, I wonder if Kalian has a long-lost relative? Wren having secrets should surprise no one.
