That high-pitched squealing in the distance was me when I read Trixie Beldon in @kbois comment. Trixie and Honey! My sisters had so many of the books. Today’s wonderful installment creates confusion for me. I have to rethink my guesses because I thought I’d read this voice already. Still want to see the rules for this contest because today was back to ‘reader must weep’ with the estrangement and reconciliation. Well done. Hoping for more Cloud Rider too.

She kills again. I felt certain that the decade age difference between the sisters was a typo or a time hop in the making. Four babies by 23. Holy moly. What TH is up with Kyan’s family? Never met these babies? Ominous… I’m not sure if the apprehension or the excitement is the stronger emotion reading this but I’m here for both 100%.

My overarching feeling is that Stevie is a success. A survivor. He has a good job, a few friends and the best mom anyone could ask for. The subtle mention of the spectrum knits a lot of this together. The little voice hasn’t steered him wrong. A very nice read for a Monday morning. A familiar voice here, I believe. Can’t wait to find out!

I should probably leave this conversation to smolder but I can’t just yet because I’m so taken by your words @LemonSoda. I hear you so loud and clear. To use a bit of story shorthand, I’m Sammy and my Avery is four years my senior. I spent my young life doused from head to toe in splashes, waves of Avery. Sometimes it’s low tide and sometimes it’s a hurricane. The most important thing, to me, is to weather the storm. Together if that’s possible. Never simple. Not even necessarily achievable on the day-to-day. Hard as hell, really. The trenches @Mrsgnomie referenced will flood sometimes. The institutions we look to for help, for guidance, may do the bare minimum as @raven1 shared, if they act at all. Thank you for taking up Avery’s side. He deserves the advocacy and amplification. He is important. Every one of us is. Perspective is everything and I am thankful that you shared yours. ☮️

Neurodivergence. My personal experience is that Asperger’s is a spectrum within a spectrum. Out-of-left-field can easily become the norm instead of the exception. This is a powerful documentation of exactly that. I’m more than a bit wrecked. Kudos to this Secret Author if this is entirely fictional. Home run.
