  1. While I very much like to cook, I picked washing dishes as my favorite. With my hands in all that soapy water, it's one of the few times I don't get bothered. Nope, sorry, can't answer the phone right now, wet hands. Nope, sorry, can't help you find yada yada yada right now, wet hands. Nope, sorry, can't sew that button back on, wet hands. Nope, sorry, can't drive you somewhere, wet hands. Nope, sorry, can't bring you whatever it is you're too lazy to get yourself, wet hands.
  2. Good thing: Managing to not push my crazy ass husband down the stairs. Bad thing: Managing to not push my crazy ass husband down the stairs.
  3. It's nice to see you so happy, Carl.
  4. There was. The polling software that was used a couple of years ago for these awards was too difficult to work with and overloaded the Admins with a lot of extra work. The poll feature that is used in the forums, while allowing for anonymous voting, visibly shows the vote totals. That seemed unfair to all the nominees. So we came up with a way to tally votes and keep them anonymous. It takes a little time and attention but it's not too complicated to handle.
  5. 135.8? You have a scale that does points? Oh there is something just not right about that idea. I prefer a scale that's accurate to within, oh say, ten pounds. And everyone has a bit of crazy in them...some of us are just lucky to have more than others.

    Spicy taco....

You're pretty damned funny when you're bored...you should be bored more often.
  7. For a good thirty years, it was a tradition for my sisters and me to take our mother to lunch for her birthday every February. We would go to the same Chinese restaurant that my family had all patronized for years. The owner and wait staff knew us by name. The four of us would always spend time looking over the menu, asking each other what they were planning to order. It was a major production each and every time as the menu was extensive. The head waiter would smile and wait patiently for our choices. After making our selections, he would wave his hand at the busboy who then ducked into the kitchen and immediately returned with those very same selections. You see, no matter how much time we spent perusing the menu, we always ordered the exact same thing. My mother always had the sweet and sour pork, my older sister the shrimp with lobster sauce, my younger sister the chicken cashew, and myself the chicken chow mein. He
  8. And it wasn't me. So Conner keep your...uh...torch to yourself.
  9. As long as the author is also a member here at GA.
  10. You really should quit smoking...you know, for health reasons. It's not good for you.
  11. I had a wonderful time (other than freezing - we were inside and it was cold) and it was great getting to meet everyone. Dan and David together are a hoot and, I think, secretly 13. Oh...and tall...everyone was tall.
  12. Well shoot! Guess I should stop goofing off and work on chapters 20,21, and 22, huh?
  13. Happy Birthday David!!! Best wishes for a great day and I'll see you Sunday!
  14. 2001 Ford Taurus, white. The pedals adjust. Handy feature to have when you're slightly vertically challenged.
  15. Happy Birthday!!!! Best wishes for a great day (or 48 hours by Graeme's count).
  16. No but at the moment you sound more like twelve then that adult you claim to be. Why is it that kids never seem to think their parents were once their age? You know, been there, done that, would like to see my kid not struggle as I did? Does it occur to you that your mother is only looking out for you? So yeah, you have everything worked out now, but that's NOW. What happens six months from now when you might not have your job? When the car you buy needs major repair work? When you get in an accident or get another DUI and your insurance goes through the roof? I'm not saying any of that will happen...but your mother is thinking about that and more. Cut her a bit of slack, it's hard to not worry.
  17. Can we go back in time for music? I have this irrisistible urge to see if Jeremy can find the perfect spot for the B52's 'Rock Lobster'.
  18. CJ is correct. The anthology story being nominated would have to be by an author that hadn't previously participated in any antholgies prior to 2008. While we're on the subject of clarification, nominations for eFiction categories are authors not identified as Hosted, Shared, or Promising. Head Bean Counter

    New Year's Bad News

Do you have a lease or any written agreement? If you do, and unless it says he can terminate with thirty days notice for no apparent reason, you've got some leverage.
  20. Yeah...that was my thought too.

    *head hits desk*

Try heat or ice for the migraines. I'm also a firm believer in BC or Goody powders. Nothing freaks people out better than whipping out that little waxed paper packet full of white powder. I've gotten used to the taste.
  22. Merry Christmas!!!!
