  3. The door unlocked. “Good evening Your Holiness.” The Black Queen inclined her head as the Bishop slowly entered the area. His tall staff casting a shadow over his white robes. His eyes narrowed in on the Queen and he paused before he spoke. “Enough of that. Get to the point of all this! Why did you call me here?” The White Bishop spoke. “I think you have an idea.” The Black Queen spoke. ** The landscape was barren. No one was ever sure when the next war was going to happen. It was bound to
  4. “We are not free. And the sky can still fall on our heads” – Antonin Artaud Originally written for The Mentor Program – Fall Writing Project.

  9. This is my kind of area xD I'm a theatre director so I know what your directoris getting at. The questions you are asking, are exactly what you need to fuel the character. You should find evidence in the text for any decision you make - that not only will help you learn your lines, but develop your character more. (X. Leret - Kaos Theatre Company) It's hard to answer these questions for you - go onto youtube and type it in. Read about them. Talk to people like it. Use this experience, to imagine into the character. (K. Stanislavski - An Actor Prepares) Looking into Brecht's A-Effect (Verfrundums (check spelling) Effect in the original german) - he did alot about learning about the social conditions of character and how this helps to develop character. (B. Brecht - Brecht on Theatre, The Alienation Effect in Chinese Acting) If you were a long time from the play - you are at exactly the right point to be asking questions. If i can quote Antonin Artaud (famed theatre director) 'we are not free, and the sky may fall upon our heads and above all theatre is there to teach us this.' - most plays have a hint towards the pointlessness of life. We create our own energy as a personality and this fuels us as actors. (A. Artaud - Letters on Cruelty, The Theatre and Its Double, On The Balinese Theatre) Look up Grotowski's 10 Principles - you might find some interesting help there to help your acting - although it is highly complicated - just try not to feel Grotowski's love. You'll probably die (true story, apart from Peter Brook, anyone that has fallen in love with Grotowski as a director has mysteriously died shortly after). (J. Grotowski - 10 Principles, Kumeiga: Grotowski's Theatre) I've bracketted a few texts you might want to look at, from practitioners that have helped me as a theatre practitioner. The best actor reads, learns, then approaches his play - in a totally different light. Don't be afraid to PM me if you need anymore help Gosh i'm such an acting nerd xD ** Edit: Costume you should worry about closer to the production. The costume will come out of your characterisation.

  11. happy belated birthday!
  12. Thought i would add my two cents into this For those who don't know me, I'm a sufferer from Developmental Dyspraxia and Sensory Processing Disorder. I have suffered with mild depression in the past. This basically means that i dont have very good motor skills and i can't be exposed to loud noises or bright lights together (or like having two senses majorly sparked) or i internally freak. I didn't really have that much of a problem with bullying until i got to Year 7. From Year R-6, i had a teaching assistant and i would have to do coordination lessons every day - to develop my balance, my communication and my writing skills. When i got to Year 7, i was singled out as the weird kid - the kid that is 'slow'. Surely, I am slow. I admit it. I take approximately 2 seconds longer than the average person to think through a phrase. I was bullied mentally for about four years. I wasn't ever physically bullied, thank goodness. In Year 8, i got into theatre. This was my saving grace. It gave me hope in my own abilities. One of the classes i took was Modern Street Dance. Now, i was not the most confident dancer in the world - but this class drove me to work beyond the mental restrictions I had. I gained teaching awards in Dance - something I am immensely proud of. I've had choreography in county shows. I've danced on the 02 Stage in London. I've done all the things the doctors told me I would never be able to do. So where now? I can't ride a bike, I can't tie shoelaces, I have a panic attack if something goes wrong. I worry far too much. But, i live by the phrase 'shit happens for a reason' - i've had all this crap cast on me - it's high time i got my own back Now, both of my disorders are internal. People can't see that there is something 'wrong' with me I like it that way I tell people as soon as i become friends with them, so they know that i'm not doing things wrong - or i'm not trying to insult them - i'm just being me
  13. has to be either Go for Broke or Monopoly
  14. Try PM'ing A member of the Writers Support team - they should be able to help. Some of the best people i've worked with (as an editor, as a beta reader, as an author) have been people that I have met in the chatroom and some of them in real life also So it is a useful source, no matter how strange you find the conversation to be.

  21. Sooooo I haven't written anything on this blog in a few months. I had a phrase of like zero writing. I just didn't have time or motivation to write. I'm going to try to get back into the groove though. I'm putting time aside as often as i can to write. What's in the works? 'House No. 654: London's Best Little Whorehouse' Pearce takes pen to paper and decides to tell his story. He didn't know how anyone would take it; but it was time for the world to know what happened to him inside House 654. This story is for posting on GA 'Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic' 'Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic' is a novella following the themes of Love , Betrayal , Hope and Deception. We follow mainly the lives of Erica , Tony , Ivan ,and Mellissa. I never said this was a happy tale , i didnt say it was a sad tale either. Its just not for the faint of heart.. This is a story I wrote for several months a while back here on GA, but I never finished it. I'm going back to finish it now and clean it up. Hopefully, this story is going to be published The Valley of The Kings A war has been waged for centuries. A war that has repeated and repeated and repeated. And who exactly are the Beings Above? This was a short story for the Mentor Program Fall Project. This is a story to be written on GA. LIke Dust In 3012, the world was invaded by a mysterious alien race. And why did an umbrella change the world? My creative writing short story piece. Will be posted as soon as my portfolio has been finished. So i have a few things coming! Just will post when I get them done Thanks for reading <3
  22. Mrs. Greenwood left the body of The Mother sprawled out across the tablet and went to have a deeper look around the building. She looked through the dungeons and saw various prison like cells but then came to a secret hidden room. Hidden behind, none other than a bookshelf. A bookshelf room where great secrets are kept. She opened the bookshelf and was horrified by what she saw. There was a young child. A young child hooked up to a machine that looked like it was keeping him alive. A machine to
