    Ray Kurzweil, the American futurist, has had a great deal to say about the various aspects of Artificial Intelligence. He predicts that the 'Singularity', (the time when computers become so complex, powerful and fast, that they a develop non-human-programmed intelligence/self-awareness) is still some 40 to 50 years in the future. lol - a plug for my 'Mparntwe' story, published back in 2014/2015, which is a treatment of this very subject. Two disabled characters react with the very first independent (non-human controlled ) AI. https://gayauthors.org/story/palantir/mparntwe/ Kurzweil posits that the Singularity could likely result in AIs of planet size or greater. - interesting times ahead for humanity. (understatement!)

    This is a heads up for Widderkin followers. Yes, the sequel is progressing (slowly) and currently stands at just over 60K words. I'm not game to start posting just yet - but my current sense of the story-line has me thinking that by about 90K it might be settled enough to start regular posts.     Yes, this is the way it was. By one of those curious coincidences, just ten minutes before I read Drew's blog I was reflecting on an article in our Australian Press about 'the gay prison'. The prison opened in 1957 in Cooma when the NSW government was trying to eradicate homosexuality from the face of the earth. Decriminalising consensual sex between men happened in 1984. Many other laws have changed since then, including the land-mark same-sex marriage bill of 2017, but fear and condemnation is a factor for sections of our society. Under the guise of 'Freedom of Religion' certain (so called) Christian Schools want to be able to expel gay and transgender students and debate about this has featured on the media in recent weeks. The bill has been shelved but the hurtful messages are there for young people struggling with the identity and their place in the world. - one school in Brisbane required parents to sign a 'contract of faith' which put gays and transgender in the same sentence as paedophilia and bestiality. For some this is the way it still is.

    A master influence for the world of story telling has died. Director for movies such as is is the Superman, Omen and Lethal Weapon. What a heritage Richard Donner has left! My movie to watch tonight is 'The Goonies', also his legacy.

    It's a spectacular place on our southern coastline. Lol - I've been there and the scene is a version of my own experience. It's an out of the way place which can only be accessed when the tide is extra low and the waves aren't very big.

    You taught yourself? - wow! I did an info tech course for a year to see how well my brain would cope with the challenge - the story draws on that experience for the ambience of a College environment. (my view of it at any rate.)

    According to Wikopedia litrpg has been recognised as a genre since 2013. I did a search with Duckduckgo, which doesn't have anything like the reach of Google, and there were stacks of results - authors, websites, even the top 20 litrpg novels on Goodreads.

    Thank you, Drew. That is so neat! I thought it must be really rare but I looked it up and found there are 29 occurrences (for dd-mm-yyyy format) in this century. The last one is very unusual as it happens to be a leap day. 29-02-2092

    This one fascinates me. Take a number, reverse the digits and then add. After enough iterations the answer is a palindrome. eg 68 + 86=154 again 154+451=605 again 605+506= 1111 YAY!!!

    David Cornwall, known to readers as John Le Carre, has died. One of those authors with the gift, his novels set a new bar for the spy-thriller genre. Vale.

I regard AAA as one of the iconic features of GA, and not only has Carlos presented us with fascinating insights into the workings of our fellow authors' minds, he's varied that presentation with a range of interesting approaches.
