  1. I don't know how you do it, Myr. I have three major stories I'd like to be working on but I've learnt that I'm most definitely a 'one story at a time' writer, and trying more than one just doesn't work for me. I do reasonably well with managing a couple of hours writing on most days (no comparison with younger authors who have to work though - retirement does have benefits. ) My writing presence on GA is sadly lacking at the moment but my plans are to change that in a few months time when I'm hoping to start posting my first attempt at the fantasy genre. It's set in Australia as well as elven realms, with magic and adventures. It's already reached novel length and is still growing in scope and complexity. Thank goodness I decided (for the first time) not to post as I was writing, as the number of revisions and rewrites of earlier parts would have driven readers crazy. I see many GA authors with multiple stories on the go and wonder how they manage the mind shift required .
  2. BEST WISHES FOR A GREAT DAY!
  3. Thanks Carlos, As usual always, 'Ask An Author' gives us that extra bit of insight into the people behind the names.
  4. HAVE A GREAT DAY!
  5. Leonard Cohen.
  6. Which scifi books do I like? Lol - the number is legion. A few that are of particular significance to me : 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne - because it's the first scifi book I read at age 8 yrs. Childhood's End by Arthur C Clarke The Lensmen series by E E 'Doc' Smith - the first great space opera I encountered. Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein The Cities in Flight series by James Blish Songmaster by Orson Scott Card - an astonishingly beautiful story which still moves me when I reread it. The Witches of Karres , Agent of Vega and almost every other story by James H Schmitz - an under-rated author I regard as being on par with any of the big name classic scifi authors. A Voyage to Dari - Ian Wallace The Dreaming Jewels by Theodore Sturgeon. And thanks for the link to that list DD - everything went on hold for ages while I went though it.
  7. I've just finished a run of three Wodehouse books - 'Meet Mr Mulliner' and two of the 'Jeeves' series.
  8. HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU YOU!!!
  9. Yep! Fully understood. - that's why I said 'intenders' Here's the link to the article where I found the info http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-12-09/same-sex-couples-lodge-intention-to-marry/9243036
  10. And the Governor General signed it in the next day. Evidently there's a queue of intenders outside the Sydney registry office today.
  11. HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!
  12. I just finished re-reading Leslie Charteris' 'Enter the Saint'. I love the way Charteris plays with words and descriptions.
  13. Here's a neat little quiz which I think many GA members will enjoy: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-12-06/are-you-guilty-of-getting-these-common-phrases-wrong/9111628 I particularly had a chuckle at the 'nip it in the butt' question.
