We Lift Them Up To The Lord
centexhairysub commented on Sean J Halford's story chapter in We Lift Them Up To The Lord
Truly lovely, sitting here bawling like a baby; but I really did love the story. Well written and the pacing was first rate, truly evocative. -
Jake may have been drunk, but I think he meant every word he said; both the I love you and the I am going to fuck you... This was a real delight. Can't wait to see what is next...

Good writing and pacing; I really enjoyed this chapter. Good to see that the Betas have the confidence from their Alphas to handle things. Can't wait to see what is next.

Alternate Ending
centexhairysub commented on stephanie l danielson's story chapter in Alternate Ending
No more changes.... LOL... Can't say I liked this version more or less; I guess that is why I really don't care for the audits after the fact. I prefer you pick one and stay with it regardless of what the readers feel should have happened; after all this is your story... -
Really enjoyed the chapter, thought the writing was really excellent in this one. I like how JJ and Will handled each other. I think that Will is right about Carullo; whatever it is about not wanting a relationship is deep rooted and really has nothing to do with JJ. I think the deal with Carullo and Luka isn't as much about sex as it is something else; but we will see. I have heard about people like Jake, but the condition is so rare that little is actually documented about it. I can see why Brad would have an issue with how Jake lives his life. I really surprised how open Brad was with Jake about the fisting with Robbie; says a lot about how much he actually trust Jake. And I wonder who Darius is spending the night with; hmmm, could we be having a repeat of the last time he was in town??? Inquiring minds want to know.

Okay, sorry to disagree but I don't think JJ is acting as much like a child as several others are. I have carefully read the last two stories and just don't see the behavior that some of you seem to think is so childish and rude. Yes, he was rude to Carullo but that was because they did not talk to each other; and initially that was JJ's fault, but this last outburst was clearly Carullo's issue. He had to know that while he had JJ may not be exclusive, JJ is the kind of person that is going to want to know the parameters of their relationship; he simply is not the slut that most of the rest of his family usually are. I still don't like how Will and Darius, et al played the situation at the party; and think it is about to bite them on the ass, deservedly so. I do find Brad's reaction to Jake hard to read. He clearly wants him, but at what level, just as a sex partner or something more? Stef and Brad both got played with the land and cartel issues. JP is calm, cool, and collected; but I think he was wrong about JJ. Wondering what the chances are of a link between the Ortega cartel and Lord Preston in South Africa??? Can't wait to see what comes next...

In some way Cavendish's behavior while not rational maybe understandable; being outed in that time and day would have been impossible for him and more importantly his family. Like Granger, family honor would mean a great deal to him. Dying in a duel would ensure that honor remain intact. I do worry that Granger brining him along, will cause issues for them both on their return; maybe a wife would help? Some Russian Grand Duchess maybe that could be used to cement the success that we are sure that Granger will have on this mission. George is masterful in his handling of both the issue of stopping the duel, handing out punishments, and dealing with the immediate fallout from those actions. The very fact that Spencer backed down show just what level of influence that Granger has both within the navy and the level of society that truly matters. Caroline will help deal with the Guild as will George's father, the Duke. The letters written to his Majesty and his Royal Highness would carry some weight with both; although I feel that his Majesty may play less of a role from here on out. I have no doubt that Mark probably had this plotted out in some way even that far back. If not this exact scenario, at least knowing that it would come into play at some point. Mark, don't know what to say; just when I truly believe it can't get any better, it does... Bravo.

I like the pacing and writing in this version. I don't really get wanting to put out two versions of the same work; you were not happy with how you did this? I agree that Glenn was a little quick to forgive; but he did come through a major trauma and Josh was there for him through it all. I don't know, it seems to cheapen the original story when a different version is put out or major changes are made, at least to me. But as the writer you need to do what you feel is best, in the end none of us have to agree with it.

I think Josh does love Glenn; but does he love only Glenn? I don't know the answer and I am not sure that Josh does either. I think they both need some serious pre-marital counseling before the big day. I do believe it is possible to be in love with two people in the same way but unless you are in a poly -relationship, you can't be with one and not the other. I honestly think the Greg is straight and I just don't see him ever leaving his wife and kids for Josh or any man.
-
I just don't understand Josh, I can't figure out why he is so screwed up with all of his feeling. Therapy NOW>>>
-
Josh is starting to strike me as one of those men that no matter what or who he has it is never the right thing or person. The people in his life have been very supportive, even the ex-wife, and yet, he still can't be happy... I think Josh is the one that needs therapy badly.
-
Okay, I have re-read this twice and I don't see where so many are coming from about Glenn. None of is actions have been suspicious to me; well except for the idea of anyone wanting to be involved with someone with kids. Just don't do the whole kids thing here, I have nephews and nieces that I love and enjoy doing things with but never wanted a child of my own; and I can promise you if you are the step, they are your child... Kim seems to be torn, but I guess that is to be understandable. Ben is old enough that he probably on some level understands more than anyone realizes. I sort of thing Josh and Glenn could be in it for the long haul.
-
I don't understand why Josh keeps trying to insist that Greg has to have some kind of feelings more than the love of friendship for him. I realize with this setting you sort of expect it; but it isn't always realistic. Josh is starting to come across as a little either obsessive or pathetic, can't decide which. Josh has a new man in his life that he seems to care about and that seems to care about him; why isn't that enough? Everyone else seems to act as if Greg is trying to hide something from Josh and himself, but if all of this happened wouldn't most people be a little reticent in their actions?

So worth it on so many levels, I just love this story. Glad the foreman can see something in Jake; not that Klaus hasn't seen something as well. Can't wait to see where this goes next; although I do worry about Jake trying to keep tabs on Diaz, not sure how well that will work. Of course, Jake is getting a little more confident as a man, so maybe he can hold his own better with Diaz, although hard for a younger brother to do that with an older sibling sometimes. Great Job.

WOW. seems we skipped a lot between chapter 4 and 5; and their seems to be some continuity issues, or is it just me? The emotions are so real; you can just feel the pain and anger of all those involved. I have to admit; I can't see any real future for the two protagonist except as friends, maybe that would be for the best... Can't wait to see where this goes from here.
-
I really am having issues with Greg's reaction. He keeps saying that he doesn't care and acts very supportive but then gets huffy. Is he afraid his wife is going to think something is going on; or does he really want something to be going on and can't face it? Color me confused.
-
Really like this, the emotions were so honest. It does seem that the wife suspects something; but with two kids have to wonder if she suspects this is what is going on in his head. Can't wait to see where you take this next.
-
Interesting; I think the pacing was pretty good with this one, both the chapter and the story itself.
-
WOW, just noticed this was marked complete; is it really?
-
A strange little chapter, can't tell exactly how this is going to go but interesting enough that I want to find out...
-
An interesting start, just enough to make you want to know how they became close and if this change will pull them apart. Will keep checking in with this one.

When Caroline and George are together and working in sympathy there is nothing that they can't handle. So glad that they are back on an even keel in their relationship, even if it may not be all that both parties want. I would think that to reach the level of commanding a fleet that Admiral Dickson would have learned to be a little more politic that he seems to be. The explanation about the prize money split does make sense, and it would not be one that Granger would ever think about although many others do. Cavendish has gotten himself into a pickle and it may take Granger using more of his influence and clout to get him out of it than he can spare. Cavendish always seemed to be more level headed, and it was not just his choice about his involvement with Arthur so others owe him for that. I wonder if the new young man may have captured his fancy more than anyone realizes for him not to have searched out Granger to help with this issue. Can't wait to see where you go next with this Mark, keep up the extraordinary work...

Another boring dinner at Escorial, don't you wish sometimes that something would happen at one of these. I thought that Will explained himself well, even if I don't agree with all that happened or why. I still can't find anything in JJ's actions except for being rude to Carullo that would warrant all of this. And the issue with Carullo was more misunderstanding than anything else. I know, I just can't let it go. I did love how Will shut down JP, Stef, and Brad over Darius choice of bed partners. I could tell the issue with the cartels was coming up; but as brutal as they can be I will be interested to see how JP and Family et al handle them. Another delight, can't wait for the meeting at Goodwell.

Enjoyed this chapter as well, I do wonder about another sub-plot involving the royal family back on Sahndrol but will with hold judgment until it is a little further along. Can't wait to see the USA, China, and Russia humbled by the European Space Agency...
-
Well, I see problems coming down the road... I do love the idea that the European Space Agency is going to get a boost up and that NASA and anyone else will have to follow there lead, but I can see that causing issues as well... Can't wait to see where this goes next.
