    Epilogue

I love a happy ending. Thanks for sharing your story.
  2. Over the last six days, since August 11, 2017, I've re-read the first five books of the Bridgemont series or saga. I recommend all of them. This book, focuses on George's time on the Belvidera when he was attached to Sir Jervis' Mediterranean Fleet of the British Empire. It is a roller coaster with many highs like George faking out two Spanish ships of the line, to way too many lows like having your mentor and lover taken from you. There are so many twists and turns to the story, both at sea and back in England, that you can never be bored by it all. Through it all, our solitary hero George, is randy, incredibly lucky and luckless by turns. Only CJames has come close to writing a story with more plots and sub-plots than Mr. Arbour. Read, enjoy, comment and review! This is a master story teller at work!
  3. From the prospective of over 5 years on, this second reading has been enthralling. If Mr. Arbour could find it in his heart to write Davina out of the story in the goriest, most hurtful way possible, it would salve my undying detestation of that shrewish bitch. Other than her, this was by far the most compelling of the stories in the Bridgemont saga to date. The battle scenes were about perfect. Tying everything into known facts of British Naval History and making it all seem so believable is truly the distinction of this whole series.

    Chapter 39

Again with re-reading some five years on, I must confess I've read Mark's story and his comments and remain convinced that Davina is nothing but a scheming shrew more worried about her social position and spending money than about preserving the family line...that was just an excuse to be her execrable self.

    Chapter 3

Granger's experienced ear and aptitude for detail displayed again! He doesn't miss much when it comes to his chosen profession.

    Chapter 38

Rereading this more than five years later, this chapter still irks me the most. George has experienced many highs and lows in the roller coaster that is the life as conceived by Mark Arbour and to me this ranks as the lowest low, even worse than those that follow... Davina is not just a bitch, but perhaps one of the most evil characters in the GA universe.
  7. Happy Birthday Cia!

    Chapter 34

Beginning with reaching an understanding about money issues and ending with clearing up domestic issues all in the name of good housekeeping as the couples put their world in order and make the necessary adjustments.

    Chapter 1

Fresh water has long been a passion for Granger. Metal tanks instead of wooden casks that quickly turn green with algae, is a no brainer.
  10. At just over a quarter-million words with 44 chapters, Belvidera is the fourth book in the Bridgemont series in which George Granger and his frigate perform heroic service for the crown. I've just finished re-reading it and it is even better the second time around. I have heartily recommended this series and this book is a particularly good one if you love naval strategy and stories! Read and enjoy!

    Chapter 36

"Granger the Black Widow" It seems Mark is enamored by spiders? I'm rereading this in August 2017...His reply to Andy above was in 2011.

    Chapter 45

Not sure what to make of Mike and his 'info'... Zach playing sounds like another accident waiting to happen.

    Chapter 24

Isn't this the third severe wound for poor Cavendish?

    Chapter 14

I'm trying to enjoy the story without worrying about remembering what comes later...
  15. & Many, many more!
  16. Master and Commander is the 3rd book of the Bridgemont Series of books by Mark Arbour and I just finished re-reading this gem. It is a sprawling tale that travels from England to India and back and then to the Caribbean, onto Philadelphia, then to Bermuda and finally back to England all aboard Granger's first command the HMS Intrepid. There are naval battles and crusty old Captains and Admirals and more than enough sexual encounters to continually stoke the libido. And it all occurs prior to Granger's twentieth birthday! Read and Enjoy!

    Chapter 20

Size queen? I think that is a safe assertion. Interesting to see certain characters re-appear over the course of the saga!

    Chapter 15

I'd say this privateer's news explains Bertie's lament that Wilcox was dealing on the side in the prior chapter...If they can just prove it...
  19. Daddydavek

    Chapter 14

    A pox on Wilcox...
  20. Daddydavek

    Chapter 12

The Intrepid and her crew surely have much to be proud of, but it came at a cost...
  21. Daddydavek

    Chapter 11

George's audacity is only exceeded by his luck. Let's hope he doesn't run out of either.
  22. Daddydavek

    Chapter 10

I'm amazed that Arbour worked a 4-20 into this story......
  23. Daddydavek

    Chapter 9

Francis Calvert and George Granger have come to a sort of understanding, however, I'm not sure either of them are really sure about the other...
  24. I've re-read both the Gunroom and the Wardroom and I am blown away by the gifted ability of Mark Arbour to tell a compelling tale of our charming, intelligent and randy Mr. Granger. If you have read some of the later works in the Bridgemont Series but missed the first two, then you do not know how some of the most important characters came into George's life. These stories are too good to be missed. Read and enjoy!

    Chapter 25

My second reading and I think I enjoyed it more this time around....Thanks for your gifted storytelling!
