My fumble fingers are bad enough but when I post from my android tablet and it decides to substitute a different word and I don't notice until it's too late---that's what drives me nuts.

As always, thanks for my Granger fix. Getting Valiant back is a blessing, but I think it will need a least another stove or two, and plenty of provisions.... More please!

Poor JJ. When you live your life convinced it's all about me, you miss a lot. Good job of writing and song selection. Of course it left me wanting more...

That's good news and I'm assuming you meant this year instead of 2015!

Great chapter. And I think Liam and I were both surprised at the ending.

Chapter 10 The New Year
Daddydavek commented on Daddydavek's story chapter in Chapter 10 The New Year
Thanks for re-reading my story and finding more than the first read revealed. I tried to write the story with some depth and layers so that it could be enjoyed when read again. Actually, that's what I 'pictured' Abel III had in mind when he decided he needed to keep a log of this seminal year in his life... -

Buffalo Wild WIng Encounter

Yeah, you got it bad. The addiction to hot wings that is. I guess I'm much more laid back. If I repeatedly get poor service from a place, I just don't go back. I guess I'm lucky that I live in an area with multiple really good restaurants as well as all the franchises and including multiple Buffalo Hotwing establishments in easy driving distance. Oh, and about that hard on....I'm seventy and if I don't take care of it every morning and most evenings, I find myself springing one at the most inopportune moments. -
Reflections on my birthday

I must apologize to everyone who read this blog on their mobile device. I just looked at it this morning on my smaller tablet and realized it was very difficult to read the font and the green type. So I've changed it back to plain font and black type. Thanks again for all the warm and supportive comments! -

Thanks for all your comments. GA is a great site with people who are supportive and positive! A special thanks is also in order for Myr and his team of administrators, moderators and others that help on the site! -
The following short film was made in color a week or two after the Beatles Hey Jude hit number 1 in the U.S about the time I was aged 20. It was shown on David Frost's show in the UK and the first 55 seconds is some of that goofing off. The song starts at about the 55 second mark. This was the Fab Four at their peak and their youth is certainly vibrantly shown. It is of good quality and select the 720 HD quality.

I want to thank everyone at Gay Authors who has made my visits here so satisfying and enjoyable. The stories are what brought me here and keeps me coming back so I first want to thank Mark Arbour for his CAP Series and later his Bridgemont saga. Mark's stories are what brought me to the site in the first place and they keep me coming back. Along the way C. James' "Circumnavigation" and Andrew Q Gordon's stories also captivated me...and so many others too including Nephylim, Libby Drew, AnytaSunday, DKstories, and oh, so many others! As I was visiting the site fairly regularly, I finally decided to formally join it in April 2009 and I started to leave a few comments, getting more confident after awhile. "Likes" were not unlimited and actually fairly restricted, meaning I often ran out every day. Accordingly, reputation points built quite slowly for most on the site and that is why some of the classic authors' rep scores must seem low to newer members. It is only in the past couple of years that members could leave an unlimited number of likes. I finally had written and revised something enough that I thought was good enough to post and "Dean Warner Intrigues" was posted in 2012. Having tasted some success, I began writing "Abel III's Awakening" and it was posted in 2014 and 2015. I intend to post some more, but my standards have grown and I'm not satisfied with anything as of yet. Seventy years is getting a bit long in the tooth and for most people in their teens, twenties and thirties it doesn't seem possible to project that far ahead into one's life. But most everyone has grandparents, parents and other oldsters in their life and you do notice things. Not all of them complimentary either. Life is often explained in terms of a journey and what you make of it, how you prepare for it and how you take time to enjoy it and help others to enjoy it determines whether you derive satisfaction and what kind of person you end up being. The pursuit of happiness is hollow if it only involves the pursuit of money or things. It is also hollow if it only involves the next drug or alcohol induced high as that gets old quickly and makes you old before your time and unhealthy to boot. People are social creatures. We crave interaction, touch and a sense of belonging. However, it is just those things that makes us vulnerable. Learning to chose friends wisely is an ongoing lesson. Everyone gets hurt, and in truth everyone has hurt some others, even if unintentionally. Forgiveness is a virtue which must be cultivated if we expect others to forgive us. Every long term relationship requires forgiveness and not just the act of saying it, but also of letting go of the resentment and hurt caused by the offense. It is not always easy and is damn near impossible at times, but the resentment and anger can eat at you. And life is too short to carry that around all the time. I have had many family and friends die over the course of my life and some died much too young. What is worse, some died before they really had a chance to achieve anything, as I had a cousin who was murdered in a drive by shooting in Denver when he was in his early twenties. But most were of great help to me and always encouraging and I treasure the memories. So while I have many regrets, but then again too few to mention, (a la Sinatra) I have had a good life so far and I'm looking forward to being productive for several more. Thanks again GA for being part of my good memories! Daddy, Dave K

The Schluter men are such good looking studs and they really know how to shine. Darius was perfect and I got my overdue dose of Will! Lucky Patrick Christian! Poor JJ is outfoxed by Steff and JP cuts him no slack at all! My only complaint is that the chapter was way too short!

Interesting northern turn in line with the title.... The chapter ends in August and I presume Granger must take Daventry to Russia and is leaving in September or October and must sail into approaching winter. Granger's quip about a good stove was not flippant and I hope his ship building friend has some good inventive ideas for providing some heat.... More please!

Gay Authors Officially 15 Years Old on 9/13
Daddydavek commented on Myr's blog entry in Gay Authors Archive
Fifteen years in the internet era is a lifetime. Smart phones were still five years in the future. The iPad was not introduced until 2010, yet now much of the traffic to the site is via mobile devices. Congrats to everyone who has contributed expertise, time, ideas, oversight, money, and especially content! The stories are what make the site a destination. I started coming to this site about nine years ago to read Mark Arbour's stories. I joined his Yahoo Group before that but group access was a bit twitchy at times and so I came here. I joined in April 2009 and saw the changes that occurred in 2010-2011 and the major change earlier this year. A tip of the hat is in order! -
Sometimes it's a struggle....

@MrMThanks for sharing!

Mark's 9.11 is not a stereotypical gay story that happens to be set in that time. It is a deeply human story about that tragic event and the human cost. As Timothy M noted, to be fully invested in the characters, start at the beginning. But it is a more than worthy stand alone read. Anyone to whom that date was just a memory as a child can get some real adult insights into the time and its immediacy and impact. I heartily recommended it...keep a box of tissues handy.

It seems events made a point of reinforcing Jeff's decision to leave Chicago.... I was so relieved that neither Paul nor Jeff took a bullet and that Dave's injury was just a flesh wound. More please!

I read the following book for the first time when I was in the fourth grade, the year was 1957. I read it again the following year. It was the first book that captured my heart. In 1958 I read Moby Dick and it then became my favorite As I've lived a fairly long life and been an avid reader for more than sixty years, I just can't say which book is my all time favorite. There is a whole library of great books that I've read, including books by Charles Dickens, Mark Twain, Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke, Anne McCaffrey. Roger Zelazny, C. S. Forester, and on and on and on....
