    Well since I'm a bit older and my generation was raised with the maxim "Spare the rod and spoil the child!" I can report that having your mouth washed out with soap for swearing or cussing was dutifully enforced in the 1940's and 1950's in my neck of the woods. A good whoopin with a belt was used for repeating offenders too.

    Chuckles doesn’t live far from my house. We can take a look and see what is going on for ourselves later tonight. I suspect James didn't put this in italics for us to ignore. Hopefully the next chapter includes the 'look and see'.....

    It sounds like the vice-principle is one of the bullies at the middle school and needs to be not just fired, but black-balled from ever teaching or working with children again.

    I too finished the epilogue at IOMFATS today and have enjoyed the story and its large cast of characters. I've wondered if Johnny gets his medal; if Bernard comes through his bowel surgery for cancer; if Trevor survives; if the rags get their bottom line impacted by a lawsuit and a hundred other questions! So the idea this is the first book in a trilogy is very welcome indeed!

    This chapter represents an info dump and gives me and other readers the background information of the realities in Great Britain and in Russia and the possible consequences for Daventry and Granger. Hopefully, Granger's ability to "read" fluid situations and make good decisions will not desert him in the near future. Hopefully, we will get another chapter in the next week as I for one, can't wait to see how Mark moves this forward....
