  1. In the past I used either Firefox or Chrome and sometimes was running both, but over the past few months I've only used chrome. When I used both I noticed when I opened task manager that each browser started to gobble RAM. So I started monitoring when using just one or the other and I found that Chrome was using less memory. There are some slight display differences and I think that Firefox is better on mobiles than Chrome from that perspective. However, since i prefer to visit the site on my desktop, chrome it is. My desktop is over ten years old and uses an AMD phenom chip with four cores. It upgraded to Windows 10 pro 32 bit which I've been running since Win 10 came out. My internet is fairly fast and on Speedtest just now showed 76 Mbps on this desktop with five other devices connected including tablets and smart phones. Accordingly, I don't have any problems with speed of pages loading or even with uploading info to the site. Actually, this site works very well compared to many sites on the net in my twenty-five plus year experience on the internet.

    Chapter 19

Liam's rationalizations for not seeking help, including going to his parents seems to indicate something more than depression alone...

    Chapter 52

You'd think these guys would learn to hold back a bit, since they all know too much about each other, but no, they enjoy stirring the pot, even if their's gets a bit stirred as well. For us reader's it's almost voyeuristic and yes I enjoyed it. More Please!

    Chapter 9

Granger navigated those dangerous political shoals adroitly to end of the chapter. Spencer's caustic remarks were a bit unexpected, but Granger's deft handling demonstrated he too is becoming a force to be dealt with.

    Chapter 18

Not an easy episode for Liam, but great empathy from Toby. Well done!
  6. I found this montage honoring and remembering some of the musicians and singers we lost in 2017 that is well done.
  7. It seems relocating and finding some way to support yourself are key to your plans. That would free up some time and be of real help to both your mom and grandparents. Work, family and quality of life balances are important and it seems you have clearly identified what you need to do. I can only applaud you and wish you the best in quickly achieving your goals. The writing on site is a bonus for us members. As to links to Amazon for commercial products, I would have no problem with that if the site can get a cut. However, I too would like to see more people subscribe to the site. I was wondering if in addition to giving subscribers access to premium stories and an ad free environment, we could give them another perk. One that is almost cost free. It seems that reputation points are one way people seem to measure themselves. Why not give rep points given or received by subscribed members a little overweight, say 1.1 vs. 1.0 point?

You are most welcome! I'm honored that you read and enjoyed my story. If you haven't read my other story, I hope you give it a try. Thanks again. DDK

    The Holidays

Thanks for the very kind words and I'm glad that you are enjoying my story!
  10. There are so many sensibilities out there, that if every one of them was taken into account, then stories would be very bland and vanilla.....and frankly boring. I suggest that authors write what the know about and try to tell an amazing story that stirs one's interests and passions. If you only read something that you agree with, then you are in a box and a boring one at that. It's ok to read a story and think, I would have told that differently or I would have taken the story line in this direction. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, including the author! The point is to read, write and think! Because we have young people under age 18 on the site, we are required to label stories "Mature" that are mature. The god of the internet GOOGLE has so decreed and we as minions must obey. Otherwise, labels can be informative but should only be required if you are writing something truly controversial and the site administrators deem it necessary.
  11. A black widow is a spider and the tangled web of threads running in this story is a fairly elaborate web and it seems JP's clan is being drawn ever more into the web.
  12. Arbour has mentioned several times over the course of the Granger saga that promotion in the navy was to a very large extent due only to seniority....and not rocking the boat so to speak. So it's not unheard of for the social elite to not have heard of every admiral or captain. In fact what was remarkable is that some men, through force of character, expert leadership, command ability and political connections were able to jump the system as our own dear Granger did. As I said in my comment in the story chapter, I fear that this old curmudgeon with his pettiness will be trouble.
  13. & Many, many more!

    Chapter 51

Oh my, there are so many threads floating around and all of them seem to be intractable... Zach and Will are about finished. JJ going to Goodwell and having to deal with Alex and Wade's sister MaryEllen... Jake being captured and being held for ransom in a war between Mexican Cartels... The dinner at Escorial was as usual, funny, embarrassing and revealing. More please!

    Chapter 8

Dickson is a pain that will probably get worse. Daventry and Granger stood up to him and petty men are just that, petty. Cavendish is a target and perhaps it is so because of Granger's problems with the Guild. I hope George and his cohorts make it in time to stop the duel. More please!
  16. To add a bit of background to Myr's comment above: One of the main reasons cited for the necessity of updating the site with new software this past year, was that the old software was not mobile friendly. The new software recognizes mobile browsers and adjusts to fit and rearrange info so that all the options are available on mobile devices. If you have a large mobile device, you can still select the desktop site in most cases even when using a mobile or tablet. Personally, I use both depending on the device I am using. My preference is to use my desktop computer as I can touch type fairly well, but am horrible at using fingertips on a virtual keyboard on the mobiles.
  17. Happy New Year Comsie!

  19. Merry Christmas Myr and special thanks to you and the whole GA community as well as best wishes for another great year!

This present was just as good as the first!

    Chapter 50

Thanks for the Christmas presents! It was perfect. I'm so glad that JJ got laid good and proper by Carullo and that they both really enjoyed it! Now on to my other present back a few centuries....
  22. A very Happy Holiday Season back at you and it's great to hear that your health is better, but we still miss your stories! Hopefully 2018 will find you with some spare time for JP & Co. and Granger et al as well!
