This is just SO funny and so astute. I was lucky for both my weddings. First wedding was unusual and everyone was invited to a DIY buffet in the hall across the road. The whole family helped out making food and it was the most fun ever. My second wedding was a public one in a field and there were about 3ooo people there. In the evening a friend's band played, we all got drunk and hasd a great time with a home made buffet made by about 20 people, including the cake. Just goes to show that the less money you have the less stress and more fun. However, I have been to the weddings you describe so eloquently and it is fun to sit on the sidelines with a glass of wine, a sausage on a stick and a sexy (insert, bridesmaid, the best man, usher, cousin from the groom/bride's side) and watch the battle giving points for flare, originality and bloodloss

Well, I don't see why not. He's not friends with your sexial orientation, only you. And his bigotry is just another one of those things you find annoying about him and disagree about. What you need to do is talk honestly and be ready to compromise.

Well, as you can imagine, I LOVED that story. I don't know anything about the background but, for me, the story stands alone without any need to know anything about its setting, great story darling, and so different from your other work. I adored it.

Democracy is a sugar pill, a fantasy that no one really believes but it gives them something to hold on to. No one likes to thing of people controlling their lives and of giving up their power over them and so they cling to the idea of democracy that gives them some of that power back It suits people to live in a sweet dream even thought it couldnt be more obvious that the UK for sure ain't a democracy and the US is only a llittle less not a democracy

I first heard of AIDS from my mother, who was always a bit of a bitch. She used it to preach safe sex at me. I don't know why beacuse I was already married but we used to go out to a local club where *gasp* people used to smoke cannabis and were sexually 'loose' Just because I used to wear backless dresses didn't mean i was joining them. Anyway she also had an issue with the fact that there were gays there who were likely to infect me if I so much as looked at them. She was only homophobic with me... and she lost that when my daughter came out to be fair to her but still. I remember the hysteria in that there was something on the news about it just about every night but it never touched me personally so I didn't pay all that much attention. It was years later that it became personal to me when an ex boyfriend of my brother was diagnosed HIV. He came to visit me often and seeing the deteriation in him was scary. I think it was mostly psychological because when he found his current partner, also HIV, he started to improve again. The boyfriend is a total darling, I love him to bits and he's changed my friend completely. They still suffer from all sorts of little things that are not widely publicised, like thrust and mouth ulcers and cold sores and nose sores and nasty little things which are hardly life threatening but still unpleasant.

Oooh a conspiracy, some old friends back in the frame and a Snake. How exciting.
