Life had been going fairly normal for 16 yo Mitchell Benning, until the annual spring community fair, during the 3rd term school holidays. One sentence from his so called best friend ended all of that in one fair swoop. A day after the fair, Mitchell packed up most of his belongings, and he was sent to his mother's spinster sister to live, and with hard times on the farm, he would not be returning to boarding school for the final school term of the year. Many years later, Mitchell will return to his home town, and a firestorm of a different kind will strike the town, not just the one with him returning to face the community.

Mike Berman, a swimmer, and Matt Broman, a wrestler, are college roommates. Mike is gay and Matt finds out. They live life and face the ups and downs and above all, they work things out.

The Currie family continues to grow and Josh decides to have his new sons vacation with his biological children, so they can get acquainted. Shortly after they return home, Josh learns that the local paper and two national magazines have written articles about them. Does this make their lives better or worse?

Josh takes back a boy he’d previously had removed from his home, but is willing to give him a second chance. Josh also takes in another new boy, as well as discovering one of his other sons has a unique gift, which turns out to be a precursor to the family’s first major setback. Is it something that will destroy their current life?

Danny and Brandon's family continues to grow as they deal with new situations.
