Timmy's Journal - 7. Is It Love?

Just a poem to share

Hello.

It's the end of another long week. I was so excited to find out that comicfan chose my prompt offering as his featured story this week. How cool is that?

With respect to poetry, oh man I'm still working on metre and not doing too well. But I will figure it out. As I've discussed poetry with folks on here and during my research, I can't believe there are so many types.

I never thought I was a poet, but I find the study of the different forms interesting. This one i scribbled during a break in my training at work.

Is It Love?

Sometimes life’s a drudge
It’s painful and it’s long
Peace is often fleeting
Love’s a stranger’s song.

I never thought I’d find you
Chance meeting some would say
Was it though, I wonder?
Let chips fall where they may.

Should I take that chance?
Or hide away my heart
Take the path less travelled
Let our life together start?

Questions haunt me daily
No answers can I find
The truth is all I know
Our lives are now entwined

Thanks for reading.
And to Headstall for pointing out where I could improve.
He was right. Thanks Gary.

Hey Tim
Came back to check GA and found this little gem.
You may have had some help, but you were the one brave enough to take a chance. For that, the reward is all yours.
Now if the Jays can only hang tight, it will be a really good night.
As always, nicely done and thank you for sharing your journey with us. :)

Tim, I enjoy seeing you explore all these different forms of poetry :) You always write such wonderful poems, whether they are free-style, tankas, meter, and so forth

It's no different with this one. The confusion on the meaning of love and the paths we take is really beautiful :D:heart:

Thank you so much for this poem Tim
PS: I expect that you'll reach 1,000 Likes tonight, so an early Congratulations!!! is in order :wizard::D:kiss:

This poem is an exquisite journey. The first verse shows a person disconnected from love... even the possibility of love. I love the line "Love's a stranger's song". You paint this bleak picture of what life is without love. When it is found, you doubt it, it's unreal, and you even question if it's chance or fate, and even though you still aren't sure what it is, in the ending, it's right before your eyes. It's like the narrator is afraid to believe his luck, or what fate has given him... afraid to put a name to it, lest it disappear. This is what I get from this, and while it may not be what you intended, it is filled with tremendous meaning for me. Even in the learning and practice of new forms, this is still a 'tim' poem. Outstanding, my friend... cheers... Gary...

Hi Gary, Thanks for the great review. Well i think you're right on in the interpretation of this poem. And well I also suppose that it is me in some way, but not me at the present time. I think I felt this way when I fell in love. The first verse was just in my head, the rest was a bit harder. I like that line, 'love's a stranger's song' to, but I don't know where it came from, but it was just the thing. Gary thanks for your support and friendship. I've told you what it means to me. Thanks again.

Hi dugh...thank you. Glad you're enjoying the journey of Tim!

That's what I call it anyway. I'll tell you though metre is having its way with me ... but I'm not quitting yet. Thanks dugh, I appreciate your comments and support.

This is a marvelous addition to your growing collection of awesome work. The contrast between the first and final stanzas makes it so compelling. And, of course you succeed in making me feel good inside, too. I'm not good with emoticons, but I'm sending a hug, anyhow.
