Timmy's Journal - 21. Blessings Found

Christmas spirit missing?

Blessings Found

Snow falls gently during the night.
I wake with the morning light.
Pull long johns on and warm boots – tall,
oh, it doesn’t feel like Christmas at all.

I shovel the path and the drive,
the exercise makes me feel alive.
But the spirit, well, it’s still missing.
I’m hoping for a Christmas blessing.

God and angels aren’t for me.
Raised that way, but do not see.
People are the truth and light,
our savior is no white knight.

Christmas is a time to share,
to show others that you care.
Time to be with your family.
Enjoy each other happily.

So, on the snowy drive I say,
let there be peace on earth today.
And I smile as I reason,
I have the blessings of the season.

Merry Christmas

Thanks to all of you who read my poetry. And to AC who listens and helps me learn.

Blessings are yours in the people who love you; and in the people you love. Blessings are yours in the world you encounter. How beautifully you say all that. Your poetry is a blessing to all of us. Thank you for sharing it, and making my Advent and Christmastide happier - and more blessed.

Merry Christmas, Tim (and Michael too :)) Christmas should be about being with those you love and counting the blessings that you have in your life. I think all of us probably get a little introspective while shoveling snow. lol

Such a heartwarming poem. Wouldn't expect anything less from you. lol You are all heart and it shows in everything you write. This poem is a reminder to all that Christmas is more than giving and receiving. Whether someone says Merry Christmas, or Happy Holidays it's all the same to me. Thanks once again for reminding us that it goes beyond the material. Although I am no longer a practicing Christian, I commend those who follow and remain true to their faith.
I wish you and your family Happy Holiday.
