Moggy's Mutterings - 27. Wake Up Call
Beautiful dreams of when we danced in meadows.
Jarring noise shatters the night.
Unknown number at 3:24am.
The voice, shaky from crying.
Still, one I haven’t heard in years.
Wide awake, a kick to the heart.
I loved you. You are my best friend.
Time, money, distance separate us.
You tell me your tale of heartbreak.
I hold the phone, wishing I could hold you.
Ease your pain, wipe your tears.
But I can only hold you in my heart and listen,
hoping its enough.
No matter how long or how far you are from me
You are in my heart and never far from my mind.
