Epilogue

As I sit in my beach chair watching Bobby and Ann’s children playing in the surf, I realize that I have had a full and interesting life. I had a family of pick-ups, that is what Noah called them. I have seen the children grow up, Carlito is now Carlo and he just graduated from college. Rosa had two more children, a beautiful young lady who is turning heads at her school and Jose who reminds me of his brother. They have become a part of my extended family. Oh, Uncle Mark met his justice, he met a man in Europe who puts up with no-nonsense. They got married in Holland, and from what Bobby’s mother tells me, he has settled down. What my friends tell me who knew him, he has met his master. I did do one other thing, I minimized a camera for underwater photography. I made one for a special marine biologist.

   

I never married but my life is rich, an extended family and friends that I love and am loved in return. I’m happy, “Watch that wave, Annie.”

Something about the ending of this story made me a bit emotional. While Chaz' life seems full, it also seems very empty of having that significant person with him. One has to wonder if Lee was he one and only love. "Out of billions of people, we got it down to two, I choose you!"

I think Chaz had some feelings for Lee. They were close, like brothers. When Lee was killed I think Chaz never found anyone who he could relate to as he did with Lee.

I somehow missed this story. I came across it, and because I have enjoyed your other stories, I decided read it. Half a day later I just finished it, and I wanted to say how much I really liked Chaz and his story! Thanks.

I just finished the story and as all of CL.Jobe's stories enjoyed it very much. As much as I enjoyed the story like alway I hate to see it end. I would love to see another story come out of this one Maybe following Bobby's life.

Thanks for this story Cal. Nicely laid out, well-written and very nicely wrapped up. I especially appreciate authors who plan out their story lines in a progressive manner with a conclusion and epilogue that tie things together. (While sometimes leaving even a small window of opportunity to revisit the story for a follow up... Like drsawzall's The Farm at Maple Hollow & Doc Thompkins A Farm at Maple Hollow vignette,  or your trilogy: The Scuffy, The Peter Charles & Grandfather II).

Thanks so much for your continuing great storytelling. I hope that your collection of stories continues on so that generations of readers to come can read them. (Not that you're going anywhere, but want to say it for the record).
