Tribute To Trebs

In Memory     Last week, on August 7, we were all stunned and devastated at the news that Robert (aka Trebs) had lost his battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma. Anyone who knew Robert knew what a truly genuine and caring person he was. He was always willing to help, always willing to lend an ear, and just always willing to be there if someone needed him. We were all certainly better off for having known him.   Earlier this week, we were approached by a GA Member who wanted to ask if

Thoughts On Orlando

Shock, anger, sadness, resentment, and thoughts of revenge.   Those are the thoughts and feelings I am personally dealing with this morning waking up to the news of what happened early today in Orlando, Florida.   I’m sure there is much more we are all feeling and trying to work our way through right now.   As of the last report on CNN, there are 50 dead and 49 injured in a mass shooting at a gay club in Orlando called Pulse. It happened at 2 AM just around closing time. The gunman, who th

Rip: Trebs

Rest In Peace We must share the sad news that Trebs, or Robert, as he was known to many long-time friends on GA, has passed away, far too soon, from his battles with lymphoma. As a board member and administrator, he has been involved with GA for a long time. He was a big presence in the site blog in recent years, but he was so much more than that and often active in quiet ways. He was always willing to help others whenever, and however, he could. So many of us here were lucky enough to

Rip Jack Scribe

Rest in Peace   It recently came to our attention that long time member and Classic Author, Jack Scribe passed away earlier this year. Jack joined Gay Authors in June 2006 and since then has posted 19 stories, including the popular Splash Trilogy as well as the Las Vegas Trilogy. Not only was he a popular author on-site, but many members considered him a friend. He will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace, Jack.

RIP - Comicality - May 1975 -- April 2024

I have been following Comicality since New Kid in School first showed up on Nifty in 1998.  I started exchanging emails with him that long ago.  We've been online friends since.  When the opportunity arose for me to start Gay Authors in Sep 2002, Comicality was the first author with us.  When we opened the forums at the very end of July in 2003, it only took me a few days to get Comicality on the forums.  Back then he was on a WebTV... He continued to grow and grow as an author branching ou

Rest In Peace: Ghostryder15 (1946-2013)

It's with great sadness that we report one of our Classic Authors, GhostRyder15, passed away in October 2013. Ghost Ryder was one of Gay Authors' original Hosted Authors, joining the site back in 2005. A military veteran of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, it is no surprise that his stories are military themed.   Today we honor Ghost Ryder's contributions to both this site and gay fiction. May he rest in peace knowing his stories will continue to live on here at Gay Authors, allo

R.I.P Comicfan (aka Wayne)

This is not a blog post that I thought I'd ever have to make, and it pains me greatly to write it now, so please bear with me. It is with a saddened heart that I must announce the passing of my dear friend, and fellow author, Wayne, aka @comicfan He's gone by many titles on GA over the years, though most of you may know him as the "prompt guru" who posted prompts every Friday to help get the writing juices flowing. Wayne was definitely one of a kind, and never had a bad word to say abo

Napervic: 1968 - 2013, Rest In Peace

It's with great sadness that we report that one of our most notable members, NaperVic, passed away recently.   As many of you know, Vic was an active guy who enjoyed working out and running with his dog Mina. He had been warming up for a race when he suffered a major heart attack. After being rushed to the hospital, he remained unconscious until he slipped into a coma. Though he put up an amazing fight to survive, he finally succumbed to his injuries and passed away.   Vic has been active o

My Friend Robert, Rest In Peace

I have been trying to think how to put into words what I feel about my friend Robert since I heard he passed away. It is difficult, to say the least.   I have been friends with Robert since not long after his arrival here on Gay Authors. We bonded over our shared love of the stories written by dkstories. In fact, we both loved the one story that we never posted here on Gay Authors. It's over on Nifty if you want to figure it out.   When the time came for me to finally break Gay Authors away

Long May You Run - A Tribute to Carlos Hazday

January first has always been a day to look forward to for fans of Carlos Hazday.  He always posted something new for readers to look forward on this day.  While it hurts like hell knowing we will never have that privilege again, today we celebrate the man that was our friend, mentor, author, and site contributor.  So, raise a toast in honor of Carlos (or flip off the sky - I think he would appreciate either sentiment!) and check out these 11 tributes in his memory.  Long may you run, my friend.

January Writing Event- Auld Lang Syne - In honor of Carlos Hazday

The Prompt Team event is in full swing, and judging from the response we got, there will be a lot of stories to read in December!  Like it or not, the New Year is fast approaching, which means so is the first writing event of 2025.  It's hard to believe this will be our second writing event in honor of our dear friend Carlos Hazday.  For newer members to the site, Carlos was a fixture of the GA community.  He welcomed and mentored new members and authors, was a great advocate of and participant

Geron Kees

It is my sad duty to report the passing of a beloved GA community member and author, Geron Kees.  He passed away in May, after a lengthy illness. Geron joined GA ten years ago and posted 70 stories since then, including the popular Charlie Boone series.  He was a regular contributor to forum discussions and actively engaged with his readers.  His positivity and kindness were reflected in his writing and interactions with other GA members, and were something everyone who knew him commented on.

Comicality Tribute - Coming of Age - *Now Live*

Today is a bittersweet day, as we remember and pay tribute to a GA icon, @Comicality.  It's hard to believe it's been a year since he's been gone.  Today would have been Comsie's 50th birthday, so we thought it would be the perfect day to feature the tributes written by his friends and fellow GA authors.    Comsie was the first author to join GA, when Myr started the site back in 2002.  He garnered quite the following, and he gave back to the site in many ways - mentoring other a

Carlos Hazday

RIP Carlos Hazday April 23, 1958 - June 16, 2023     It is my sad duty to inform everyone that a beloved member of the GA community has passed away.  Carlos Hazday was a staunch supporter of GA.  He took over the popular Ask an Author blog when it was in danger of being discontinued and made it into one of GA’s most anticipated blog series.  Carlos was also a great advocate for the anthology, by writing stories, editing, and encouraging writers to participate.  He made many f

2023/2024 Writing Event Announcement - A Tribute to Carlos Hazday

Long May You Run - A Tribute to Carlos Hazday Our beloved Carlos had a tradition of posting something new for his readers to enjoy on January first.  It was a great way to ring in the new year.  In this vein, we thought it would be fitting to feature a tribute to him on January 1, 2024.  Anyone is welcome to contribute a story, letter, poem, or whatnot on a topic that resonates with them with respect to Carlos, be it bikes, tattoos, Florida, politics, writing, or something else.
