Weekly Wrap Up (Sept. 4 - Sept. 10)

Well, well, well. Shall we wrap this week up like a pig in a blanket . So question for all of you, have you partaken in any of the great first releases of the GA 20th Anniversary Anthology?  How many have you read, 1, 2, or all of them? What do you think so far?  I've personally had a busy week, as on Thursday night I was going to get into bed with my iPad and start reading. Much to my surprise out my condo's bedroom window 😮 Okay Steve, that is an excuse for Thursday night.

This month of September (which just so happens to my anniversary month on GA & in real life!) we have stories that will go live every single Thursday for readers to enjoy. Make sure you check here for links to each one!  Enjoy these Anniversa

Ask An Author 3.0 #20

Are you ready for the best intro to an Ask An Author article? I certainly am! Honestly, it could be a great title to the series we're featuring this month.  "Ask An Author, Charlie Boone!"  That's right! We got a set of questions for @Geron Kees's wonderful series, Charlie Boone. Even if you haven't read any of the stories, you've probably seen the titles in the Story Archives. With twenty completed stories, I'm sure it was difficult for our anonymous reader to only ask four questions.

September CSR Feature: La Bella Vacanza by James Carnarvon

Can you believe it's already September? I can't! So to go back to that holiday feeling, I've featured La Bella Vacanza by James Carnarvon. This story is linked to his series, but somewhat of an aside, so you can read it and enjoy a sampling of the tales.  La Bella Vacanza by @James Carnarvon Length: 22,202 Description: A light-hearted novella in seven short chapters. Sixteen-year-old Reza thinks he knows it all until his parents drag him away on a summer holiday to Ravel

August CSR Discussion Day: The Seventh Wing by Dark

August flew right on by, and if you were a science fiction geek like me, or if you love dragons, you enjoyed reading about the flying in Dark's Pern fanfiction, The Seventh Wing, that was featured earlier this month. Make sure you share your thoughts in a comment below his interview!  If you were an animal, what would you be?  Vampire Deer What do you like to do when you’re not writing?  Read, read, read!  I also sing in a choir and paint DnD miniatures for my brother and hi

Weekly Wrap Up (Aug. 21 - Aug. 27)

Hey all, what's up? First off, thank you Cia for stepping in last week and getting the majority of the Weekly Wrap Up done for me Not sure if you noticed the latest announcement, but Myr, Cia and the programmer are all working triple overtime to try to fix the caching issues. Some significant improvements have happened over the past week with a few more patches coming this week. Hopefully they can nip this in the bud soon, as I know they are all trying so hard to get it done. You als

Weekly Wrap Up (Aug. 14 - Aug. 20)

Stay tuned to this spot.  Currently I cannot do the weekly update as I have a caching issue. I'm lucky to get this far. I will try again in the morning   Edit to add: I'm swooping in because I was online doing homework. I can see what Mr. Wildone cannot for some reason, so I thought I'd help out! Thank you all for being patient with this horrible bug; Myr is working diligently to track it down every day since that last IP update. It's not an easy one, and he's swamped! ~ Cia Monda

August Signature Author Feature: Campfires and Starlight by AC Benus

Welcome to our first Signature author feature of 2022! We've been focusing on our Classic authors for a few years, and now we're going to showcase stories by our Signature authors starting with AC Benus. August is a month of many camping trips here in the US, so I wanted to share this great short story he wrote back in 2018 that features... camping! Length: 23,478 Description: Remembering summer nights and lakeside settings, best friends come together to renew their camping trad

Weekly Wrap Up (Aug. 7 - Aug. 13)

We are nearly half way through the summer and you know what that means for North American people... Back to Skewl!!  I guess that is dependent on if you are a student of some level or if you are a working stiff like me  Believe it or not, up to a few years ago I was under the impression that the primary and secondary education all over the continent was basically from the beginning of September until the following June. How wrong I was . From what I understand, some of the southern US they

Weekly Wrap Up (Jul. 31 - Aug, 6)

I'm back from the wilds of the Rockies  Had a great time with my nephews for the 7 days. Lots of mountain biking, took a gondola to the top of Mount Sulphur and then walked the 400 steps up to and back from the summit. Hit the Banff Hot Springs. Another day swam in an old quarry that has been filled with water and turned into a park. We even had a bit of a issue with a black bear on the last day of camping Kind of wish we had a little blue one to deal with instead. Kind of looking forward

Ask An Author 3.0 #19

Well, well, well... This silly, overused introduction that sparks an uneasy feeling into weak hearts. Maybe I should add a slow-clap. Ehh, it's also overplayed. Anyway, I must say I'm proud of y'all. My tease of dropping Ask An Author into the fiery pits of Mount Doom encouraged some of you to ask questions. What I did not expect was the surge of comments from last month's altered edition. Some of you even messaged me, asking for more of the comment section-driven pandemonium. Further discussion

August CSR Feature: The Seventh Wing by Dark

How do you feel about dragons? They're some of my favorites! I also love to feature all different kinds of stories for the CSR. Established authors, promoted, new authors, brand new stories or stories that are the latest in a long list of author's backlist. Dark said that was the first specific MM fanfic of Anne McCaffrey's Pern stories written and shared on GA, and I thought it'd be good to return to the series roots. What did you think of it?!  The Seventh Wing by @Dark Length:

It's been a busy week and our buddy @wildone has went out to the wilds on vacation.  Somebody, somewhere forgot a little something... so I'm dropping this in and you'll have to check back later for more updates. -Myr  Update: That somebody was, me Cia... and I developed a migraine last night and went to bed at 7:30 PM and slept for 11 hours. July CSR Discussion Day: Him in the Dust by James Matthews

Welcome to the last Monday of the month. I hope it's gone well for you, and if not, you're here not to enjoy this interview 😉 with @James Matthews and share your thoughts on his story, Him in the Dust. Don't be shy now!!  Are you a person who makes their bed in the morning, or do you not see much point? I really had to think about this question before giving an honest answer. I'd say my bed is unmade most of the time. I do like to get into a made bed as I'm sure we all do so on a weeke

Whew, getting this in by the hair of my chinny chin chin   Even though I'm fair haired (in the summer my hair turns strawberry blond), I know I burn, and I do everything possible besides wearing a snowsuit, touque, and ski goggles in 30 C weather, but I still am burnt to hell tonight  I mean, about a hour before I went out I took a shower and rubbed in a generous supply of SPF 30 Sport and then waited 10 mins and sprayed on SPF 50 Sport. Went down to my vehicle 5-10 mins later and put on so

July Classic Author Feature: Stuff People Do by Ronyx

As the year begins to turn, I thought what better than to bring a story all about changing. It's not an easy read, but it is a worthwhile one that hits you in the feels. Please check out this month's Classic Author feature, and don't forget to leave a comment.  Length: 92,791 Description: Matt Stevens is a normal sixteen-year-old. Middle of July, so what should we talk about? What the heck, why not weather! I'm curious how things are shaping up in your neck of the woods as far as the weather goes. In my hometown, it is Stampede  week, and mother nature has so far cooperated. I don't think in the past 8 days we have had any rain. Temps have been around 30 C (86 F). This is too hot in my humble opinion. I know some areas of the world are having record breaking temps like Europe and elsewhere, so my heart goes out to th

July CSR Feature: Him in the Dust by James Matthews

Happy July, folks! Can you believe the year is half over? I can't! I thought I'd share a story that has a theme that is as enduring as these last few years seem to be... war. It's a heavy topic, but readers seem to enjoy James Matthew's departure from his normal fiction to share his work with Him in the Dust. What did you think? You'll get a chance to share your thoughts on the discussion day on Monday, July 25th.  Him in the Dust by @James Matthews Length: 33,793 Description
