Featured Story: Songs of the Heart

Well, its the start of another week! I hope you had a great weekend. Today, we're featuring a review of Songs of the Heart by Jordn87.  Songs of the Heart Jordn87 Reviewer: spikey582 Status: Complete Word Count: 27,938 It’s been awhile since I last posted a review in our Featured Story blog, and I actually spent a lot of time debating which story I would review next. Then in June, Jordn87 reposted an updated version of his story Songs of the Heart, and I had my story. This w

Weekly Wrap Up (Jul. 5 - Jul. 11)

Well I never  😮  Usually I try to work a word of the day into the Weekly Wrap Up of late. Generally I try to look in everyday to check out the word of the day and see how I can use it in the wrap up. This week has been a hectic week and I have not been diligent in reading them everyday. So we find ourselves on a Saturday night and I check to see what word I can use, and I find this entry! I think this is the second time I have been used in an example of usage of the word, but wonderin

July CSR Feature: I Do Like to be Beside the Seaside by Ivor Slipper

Well, we made it halfway through 2020. Kicking and screaming, fighting the world, or maybe just resigned to the reality that is facing us. Honestly, I really liked the title of this story, which is what initially caught my eye. "How true!" I thought. "But can it be that lighthearted of a tale?"  Then I wanted to know more. How about you? So while you're facing whatever your reality is, how about escaping into this story instead.... I Do Like to be Beside the Seaside by @Ivor Slipper

Well a Happy Independence Day to my neighbours to the south  Hopefully you were able to celebrate your national birthday this year in a unique but safe kind of way And a belated Happy Canada Day and Happy Somalia Independence Day on July 1st   So I was driving down the road the other day, and I had a weird thought, and wondering if any of you have pondered the same thing, or if not? When was the last time you saw a hood ornament? I think someone had a old Lincoln Continental in my par

Ask an Author 2.0 #33

Half the year is behind us, and I suspect by the time 2020 is over, we will look back and marvel at how different the twelve months turned out to be from what we might have expected. If the COVID19 pandemic, social distancing, and quarantines weren’t enough to shake us, police brutality and Black Lives Matter protests surely did. Not surprising then that two members sent in similar questions referencing the pesky virus and our reactions to it. Responses are posted in alphabetical order.

June CSR Discussion Day: Caz Pedroso's Here Kitty, Kitty

Did you read Caz Pedroso's story, Here Kitty, Kitty? What did you think of it? Make sure you share your thoughts below in the comments, but first! Enjoy this interview with questions Caz graciously answered for me so you get the skinny on her!  Are you a person who makes their bed in the morning, or do you not see much point? Not much point making my bed. When my daughter and husband are home, my bed is my office. If you were an animal, what would you be? A house cat, my f

Featured Story: Yankee

Another weekend is over and it's time for another review from the review team. This week, Timothy M has taken the chance to review "Yankee" by The Zot. Yankee TheZot Reviewer: Timothy M. Status: Complete Word Count: 80,483 This story sat unfinished on my favorite stories list for years, but in 2019 @TheZot realized the last three chapters were not present on GA and uploaded them. Some readers argue the story still feels incomplete, and I can see their point. It’s definitely

June, June, oh miracle of months! It's June! Halfway through the year and the start of my summer break! I want to celebrate with one of my favorite genres, paranormal! So I picked a vampire story. Weekly Wrap Up (Jun. 7 - Jun. 13)

Another week, and another week of nice weather. I guess some of our US of A neighbours had a bit of extreme weather, so hoping you all are okay  Tonight, I actually sat at my computer and watched 3 completely separate thunderstorms move through the city. Great lightening shows, and thunder that shook the stuff in my place. Won't catch me going outside in anything like that again Oops, let me retract that! Watching the 11:30 local news and our major freeway going through the middle of the c

Featured Story: Daddy Bears

Sorry all, running late, so let's get this review up! Daddy Bears by MCVT Reviewer: Aditus Status: Complete Word Count: 6,284 I read this story because of its title—and because a friend recommended it. In the beginning we learn about a young man’s abusive childhood and his way of coping with it: every time it gets bad, he sends his mind on a journey. He turns the knob of an imagined red AM radio, and immediately he visits wondrous places all over the world--the streets of

Weekly Wrap Up (May 31 - Jun. 6)

Exciting things happened this week in the GA New Blogs  Did you catch them daily, or do you rely on the Weekly Wrap Up to get caught up   So last weekend, I played 18 holes of golf on Sunday. We all practiced safe distancing and such. I say played, but I lie . We went to play in the Rockies and some of the tee boxes were quite the climb, and then back down to the carts. Since I don't wear my prosthetic leg much since I've been working at home, I don't get out on it too much during the week.

Ask an Author 2.0 #32

Last month’s installment of “Ask An Author” was one of the most popular ever based on the number of comments from readers. Not sure we can match the response, but this month’s question is just as fascinating. Let’s see what some of the Author/editors on Gay Authors have to say. Participants were selected by the member asking the question, and they're featured in alphabetical order. ҉҉҉҉҉ Amateur writing can have some differences, and no one is perfect. As many of us on GA are, I a

Well excusssssse me  Seriously, I need to apologize ahead of time. I've been on a wee bit of a vacation this past week and I wanted to take tonight off, so I can do some social distancing visiting with some friends. We will be 6 feet apart in his back yard with a fire pit between us. All of us are on the bit shy of meeting up, but as a group, we decided lets give this a try but practicing everything we can, which is a heck of a lot more that what I see others doing in the grocery stores

Weekly Wrap Up May 17 - 23

Happy Memorial Day to all our American friends!!  As Elen said, it is time to pull out your bikinis and use them as face masks   Now, I am not suggesting that you put the tops on your top and your bottoms on your face  You might get arrested and for me personally, I don't need to see that . What about your neck of the woods, is it bikini weather yet? I'd ask everyone to post pictures of themselves in their bikinis but I'm scared what I would get sent in   Shall we move on from bikinis
