September Classic Author Excerpt: Palouse by Rec

Did you catch Monday's feature with the banner for Rec's story, Palouse? Check it out if you want to feature it in your signature. So I live in Washington, so I know how special this region of the state is, how scenic it can be... but just how few opportunities there can also be for anyone who is 'different'. Rec's story has all of that and more. I think you'll enjoy this excerpt as well.  Click here to read more

September Classic Author Feature: Rec's Palouse

Sometimes you just want to sink into a story, and Rec is an author that lets you do that. His stories always drag you in and don't let you go from beginning to end. Palouse is no different. Have you read it? Length: 110,617 Description: Palouse is a coming-to-maturity story of a half-Navajo boy who is a virtuoso at violin. The story traces his rise, fall, and reemergence in the context of a domineering mother. It is a story also of a developing love between the boy and a gay frie

Weekly Wrap Up (Sept. 13 - Sept. 19)

So what is up in your neck of the woods?  I mean weather related. I know that there is hurricane after hurricane battering the SE US, I know the West of the US is on fire, we have smoke and breathing advisories up here in Canadia 😮 I know it has been a early fall for some areas. What is happening over in Europe and Asia right about now? Then we can ask for a weather update from the South Americans, Africans  and Australians for the southern peeps who are transitioning to spring. Did I hear

Weekly Wrap Up (Aug. 30 - Sept. 5)

Hello Fellow GAers, or can it be GAyers? It is funny how some cities' residents names are made. For example I live in Calgary, we are Calgarians. When I lived in Lethbridge for 10 years, I said we were Lethbians . Needless to say my fellow Lethbians didn't find it as humourous. Jeez, its a joke  The province next to me, Saskatchewan, their peoples call themselves Saskatchewanites. And then the city of Moose Jaw in that province call themselves Moose Javians. Hi, my name is Steve. First and

Ask an Author 2.0 #35

Here’s hoping this month’s issue proves as popular as the last one. We are back to one question for several authors but this month’s query is somewhat different from our usual fare. It does, however, dovetail nicely with Myr’s history of Gay Authors so many enjoyed in August. As usual, responses are in alphabetical order and posted as the respondent submitted them without editing. ҉ ҉ ҉ We are putting together a Gay Authors Time capsule. This capsule will be opened in 10 years. You hav

August CSR Discussion Day: Electricity by MozLover21

Whew, a long month and a long story! At least they went together, right? I hope you enjoyed the Electricity (and welcomed back football!) this month. Now how about my interview with MozLover21? My questions weren't so easy, so make sure you read the thoughtful answers before you comment with your thoughts on the story below! What’s something personal about you people might be surprised to know? I love horror movies. They’re my guilty pleasure. But somehow my fondness for this genre alw

Hiya   What am I so happy about? I'm not really sure . Could it be because Sunday is/was international Bacon Day? I think that might be it  Sadly by they time most of you read this the day will be past, but as I like to say, never to late to catch up   I apologize to all the people who don't eat bacon  I will just enjoy your share for you!   Now that most of you are smelling, tasting, craving bacon, I shall leave this behind and move onto the Weekly Wrap Up! Featured Story: The Paladin

It is Monday in most of the world, and what better way to start off the week of blogs than with another great one from the Review Team, this one from Timothy M.   The Paladin David McLeod Reviewer: Timothy M. August Classic Author Feature: Vlista20's Cameron

August already! I'm keeping that contemporary theme going with another oldie but goodie with Vlista's Cameron. This is one of the... lighter tales, so to speak. Come back on Wednesday to check out an excerpt from the story.    Length: 97,187 Description: Cameron thinks all he wants are one night stands, and plenty of alcohol. That is until someone comes along who causes him to re-think what he really wants in life. A Reader Said: A really nice sweet ending after a trou

Weekly Wrap Up (Aug 09 - Aug 15)

Back for a week and then gone again! That's right, you're stuck with me again this week. @wildone got called out of town unexpectedly and asked me to do the wrap up. If you haven't already done so, please go vote in the Anthology Theme Selection for next year!  We've only had fifteen votes for the top themes next year. With almost 1,300 authors and almost 27,000 members in total, 280 of whom are already members of the Writer's Circle club, I had hoped for a much better turnout. All members are e

Author Guess Who #10

Wow, there are a lot of things going on in the world right now. And it's been a few months since I did one of these, so, I thought, maybe it's time for something a little light-hearted, like maybe a new Author Guess Who!!!!  The reveal will happen on August 26th!! Now, who thinks they can figure out this month's author???   What is one thing that most GA members might not know about you? That's a broad range to choose from. I don't say much about myself. OK – I'm fascinated by spi

Featured Story: His Story

His Story Drew Payne Reviewer: Parker Owens Status: Complete Word Count: 9,305 Life is hard enough being different. Weekly Wrap Up (Aug. 2 - Aug.8)

Oops  I actually forgot that I'm back from holidays, well camping, and I told the gracious Renee I would do the wrap up. Well last night, a barley pop or two, I was watching TV and then crawled into bed. I totally forgot that last night was Saturday night   I referred to Renee as gracious, as she was kind enough to do the wrap up for me the past couple of weeks. So let's all give a shout out to her for stepping in!! As mentioned, I was camping the past week and a bit. Had a great

Ask an Author 2.0 #34

We’re changing things up this month. Instead of one question being asked of several individuals, we’re back to one author one query. One being the operative word. @Myr was kind enough to provide a detailed response, so I’m featuring it by itself. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. ҉҉҉ Why did you decide to start Gay Authors and how did you go about it? Also, how has it lived up to your expectations and how has it diverged from your original intent? ҉҉҉ Why did I decide to st

August CSR Feature: Electricity by MozLover21

Welcome to August. Wow, I can't believe we've already made it here. Summer in the northern hemisphere is in full bore, but we can see the end in sight. Change is in the air, and what better way celebrate that than with a tale about personal change? And sports! Football!! Yes it's American football, people, but this is the month for it. Plus, don't forget to congratulate MozLover21 on being a member of GA for a year on August 16th!! Electricity by @MozLover21   Length: 74,284

Yep, that's right, you're stuck with me again. I think @wildone will be back next week, at least last I knew.  I slacked a bit for a Wednesday post, but we still had a couple new blog posts. Also, the theme suggestion thread is closed, and voting will start just as soon as I figure out how I'm doing the voting for this year. As all themes will have the potential to be used, things are probably going to be switched up a bit. So keep an eye out on the blogs for info regarding the voting for next y

Don't forget to share your comments below, but first, I gave a detailed interview that you just can't miss Ivor's replies to!  Do you eat your fruits and vegetables? Well, it's been a while since I've done one of these, but @wildone is taking a much deserved vacation, so guess that means you're stuck with me for the time being. I don't really have anything fun and exciting to report, except to say that I'm already over this heat! Let's see what we had going on this week! Weekly Wrap Up (Jul. 12 - Jul. 18)

So, is it hot where you live? I've heard from my Eastern American and Canadian friends that the temperatures and humidity has been nearly unbearable. Then heard on the news that Death Valley, California hit 53.3°C/128°F  I guess I'm enjoying days around 25°C/77°F, but most evenings we have thunder storms rolling in. My city did have the 4th largest natural disaster in Canadian history in cost of damages due to hail a couple of weeks ago. I'm curious though, how is your summer going? Are you hidi
