    Talk Talk

    By Aditus

Conversations. Sometimes it’s too much, sometimes too little, formal, informal, clumsy, artificial, with another word: difficult. Let’s practice, Shall we? #253 Someone is on the bus. The guy beside them fidgets the whole time with an irritating tinkling bangle while telling them, it seems, their entire life story, including very personal things. It’s time to pop in the earbuds. When it’s time to get off the bus, the talker has disappeared and the strange bangle is now on th

Beer and Ninja Turtles

So it's 5:30 in the morning, I lost count of how many beers I had, and I'm feeling less long-winded than usual, but I wanted to write about two things just so I don't forget them. Apparently blue hair says to people, hey, I'm really outgoing, come talk to me about stupid crap. I was leaving my building at around midnight or so, and this 40-ish guy comes around the corner and gets a look at me and says, "Ooh, are you punk?" I gave him a weird look and mumbled something, and he started rambling on

America's Best Friend

I was watching my usual highbrow, intellectual television programming tonight and caught a South Park episode about dancing. "You got served" sums up the theme. Anyway, in that episode, Stan makes a comment to Butters: "You might as well go to France with all the other pussies." That comment struck me with the inherent bias Americans seem to hold against France.Bias, you say? Well, we like their luxury goods, as does most of the world. The French corner on that market was established by Lo

a pick me up...

Ok, so I was at work the other day and I was behind a counter looking for something that I was not finding, (of course) and I made this whistling noise... anyway when I look up there is this guy standing there and I get a huge grin on my face because I am kind of embarrased thinking that he probably thought I was whistling at him which, of course, I wasn't. So, I ask him "What can I do for you?" and his reply to me was "Anything you want with that smile" Corny... anyway so my question for

I'm so blue...no, really

That's right, I've dyed my hair blue. Bright, that-color-isn't-actually-found-anywhere-on-planet-Earth, blue. And oh god do I regret it. Not because my hair is blue, that actually looks pretty cool, but because now everything else is blue as well. My face, my neck, my shoulders, the walls of the shower. I scrubbed my face until it was red and painful. Still blue. I scrubbed the shower until I thought the paint was gonna come away. Still blue. At the moment my boyfriend is in there with some of t

still asking...

Howdy all~Well, I have another pressing question for you all... I guess you are sensing a theme here So the question of the day is this: What is your favorite body part? And I don't want to hear 'penis' although it may very well be, except for us girls since we don't even have one... of our own at least. My answer is my feet... I like them and I think I have cute toes... My husband says my ass, but it is my favorite so I am going with feet.Hugs, Vivian PS. I saw Dom on earlier and am very reli

The Mission?

Michael raises an interesting question. What is the scope of the forum? Is it a broad group of friends who meet here to share views of all types, or is it a narrow group focussed solely on stories? I did a brief review of the forum and the most active postings, interestingly enough, were those dealing with members and their personal issues, whether they're job troubles, boyfriend troubles, or simply birthday greetings. It seems that the reality of the forum contradicts it's mission statement

Decency

"Surely freedom of speech does not preclude decency?" I'm quoting this from Connor's post on my last blog entry, and I think it's a point well worth considering. And no, Sharon, I'm not trying to use this as a platform to slam the Rainbow People or our private leader. So what's the answer to that question? I think that freedom of speech does preclude decency, and I base that assertion on two key factors. The first is that "decency" is a relative, subjective term. What is decent for one may

this one's for will...

Ok since you demanded another entry.... I love shoes. Not to the point that I own a ridiculous amount of them, but I really think you can tell a lot about a person by the type of shoes they wear. For example I hate those flip flops or sandals with the really big foam heels that all the girls wear now, or if I see a guy wearing nice shoes, I know he at least has some fashion sense and possibly some class. So, the question is what accessory tells you the most about a person and why? There it is Wil

Am I really that bitchy?

Every once in a while it is time for a healthy bit of introspection. A few of my erstwhile friends on this board have suggested that I've been too mean, nasty...bitchy....kind of like a pissed-off Rainbow person. So I thought I'd explore that concept. I think that maybe they're right. I guess my general irritation peaked when I was banned from the board and my warning lights were up to 75% for my role in the unsuccessful Censorship Rebellion (although the warning bars were a weird sort of bad

next question

Hi All,Just got back from 9 hours of driving to take my little bro to college freshman orientation... he is leaving next weekend Can't really decide how I feel about that since he is really like my kid since my parents both died and my husband and I have been raising him since he was 8 and I was 18. Anyway I am so excited for him, but I am worried also... I guess that is normal. Anyway next weekend when he moves to his off-campus apartment, I have to drive another 12 hours... So, very interest

danger, danger...rant ahead

So, long story short (ok, not really) I went out tonight at around midnight with my boyfriend, because I hadn't been out all day, (damn 90 degree heat) and ended up getting into an argument in the middle of the sidewalk. As some of you (probably mostly anyone who's bothering to read this) know, we fight constantly, over just about everything, and tonight's was really stupid. Basically, he did something to piss me off, I called him on it, and then he yelled at me for a half hour or so about how h

And while we're talking about blogs....

I'm really enjoying reading these blogs. I like the fact that bloggers can pretty much express their thoughts regardless of topic, and that gives us a chance to get to know them a little better. It seems to me that these have become more active than the forum. I'm wondering why that is? I've thought about it and I came up with a couple of possible reasons. One possibility is that they're new....at least for the general membership. The latest fad, the trendy option, everyone focused on the n

About these blogs....

So whenever I go onto someone's blog, it allows me to select a rating (scale of 1-5), yet only a few of the rankings actually show up. I've rated a bunch of blogs, so I know they've gotten some feedback, but it doesn't show. Mysterious? Just wait, it gets better. So Myr has a blog, and posts this interesting article on something, only I forgot what it was, went back to look it up, and now his whole blog is gone. At the same time, Val suddenly returns after weeks of being gone. To top it all

the question of the day...

Hi Everybody...First I want to say thanks for the super warm welcome that I have been given, and that was before Vic with a "C" was even the welcoming comittee. So, I was on chatting with some of you guys the other night and told you that a guy at work had asked me this question: If you could be any kind of dessert, what would you be and who would get to eat you?Intruiging question really...So here is my answer... I said that I would be a strawberry shortcake, since I love strawberry anything a

I'm back!

Okay, since everyone else on the planet seems to have a blog now, I figured I'd write in mine. I FINALLY have the internet again, after 2 weeks without. *whew* I'm still trying to get used to my new roommates. Two guys, a girl, and a 3-month-old. Joy of joys. I can't have my pets here, because the girl is allergic to the rabbit, so I've got a friend keeping them. It's pretty funny-he has two cats, and I was afraid they'd bother the bunny, but they're scared to death of him. It sucks not having t

Disturbing the world

I'm in one of those pissed off moods where I have lots of goals, and I do make a little progress on each one, but I have not completed a single one in the past month. As my frustration boils over and I share it with you, I invite you to vent as well. What's pissing you off?

All About Lily Chou Chou

All About Lily Chou Chou, first of my weekly movie reviews.Has anyone seen a Japanese movie called All About Lily Chou Chou? A friend of mine saw it and recommended it to me, so I went out and rented it. So before I go any further I have to say that this movie is not for everyone. It has alot of situations including rape, torture, suicide and murder. The movie is set in Japan and it revolves on a set of highschool students who listen to the music of lily chou chou, a fictional music star create

Fight! Fight! Fight!

Its Chris writing today....David is feeling sorry for himself tonight, because he got smacked good on the nose today...Here's the version of the story I got when he came home. He said that his security were following some guy who they thought had stolen good's, they stopped him at the door, but David being himself couldn't just leave them to do there job's. He decided he would help stop the guy when he decided to run. Obviously the guy didn't like this because he smacked him in the nose. Not bro

Private lives

I'm always amazed, being an old guy (I'm 43, which means I'm pretty old, although not as old as Connor), at how much the internet has changed not just the world (that's an old story), but our personal lives. Growing up as a bisexual guy in pre-internet days I had no way to communicate anonymously with anyone about my feelings. There was no way to share the challenges without taking someone into my confidence, a truly horrifying risk. You see, for a bi guy, if you get outed, you've pretty much

Immune from AIDS?

I remembered seeing an article some time ago where scientists claimed that some people of European descent showed a natural immunity from AIDS stemming from a mutated gene. The original cause of the mutation was thought to be the Plague, but now, according to the article below, it appears to be smallpox that is the cullprit/benefactor. It seems that if you want someone to bareback f**K you, you should pick a Swede. Plague Debunked As Link to AIDS Immunity Smallpox seen as likely cause of muta
