You
I got an email from a friend today when I wasn't expecting it. Well, I was expecting it in a sense because we correspond nearly every day. But time had gotten away from me so I was surprised when I glanced at my screen and saw the (1) next to their name indicating I had an unread message. Receiving that email, only a few sentences, made me happy. An instant smile just seeing that (1) in bold. I also felt a throb of arousal, some Pavlovian response to the as yet unread words.
I wanted to memorialize some of the riches this correspondence has brought to my life. It's really a record of friendship, a tribute to that person and the importance of play, of freedom, of emotion. Apologies for the poor form below. It's neither prose nor poetry. Consider it a fanciful list.
A letter from you is
a question
a casting
a secreted hope behind yearning eyes.
A letter from you is a curtsy.
It embraces and braces.
It entreats and treats.
It's the enfolding hug that surprises me, encircling me from behind.
It's the breath of reassurance whispered in my ear.
A letter from you is
the press of your body against mine
the begging thrust of your hips.
it's your fist covering me, warm where I'm hard
it's your palm where I'm hot, your fingers where I'm wet
A letter from you is the leisurely exploration of your tongue down my spine.
It's a wink
it's a wave
it's a hand of comfort resting on my shoulder
It's the recline of your body into the crook of my arm
it's silence
it's peace
A letter from you is love.
