Weekly Wrap Up (Feb. 22 - Feb. 28)

'Tis the last day of February. Do you know what that means? That March starts tomorrow :P We have about a week from today, that everyone loves in certain areas of the world ;). If you are this weekend, let us know how things went :) .

So, what is new  Work sucks :( I'm never taking holidays again. After 3 weeks I'm still playing catch up. How can a train go off the rails so badly 😮? Other than working long days, and evenings, Friday night and Saturday have become my nono days and I take some time for me.

Well, today I did something that I haven't done in about 20 years, and to an extent 10 years. I made a loaf of banana bread :D (20 years). I haven't baked since I made chocolate chip cookies for my dad before he passed (10 years). And no, my cookies did not do him in ;). Not sure if this was my mom's rule or if it is everyone's rule, but you have to wrap banana loaf in tin foil and put in the fridge for 24 hours. Which means I can't have any until tomorrow :(

Now that leads into our question of the week? Do you bake? Not so much cooking dinner or boiling water to toss the noodles in, but do you bake the goods that you can get from the local bakery. I used to do a lot of baking back when I could eat more and not go direct to the middle floor of my body. Too bad it wouldn't go to the sub-basement a littl e further down and push out in the front 😮. What is the most challenging thing that you've made? I once tried making baklava, but anyone that can deal with filo pastry is a much better person than me. I guess my cherry pies that I make with a lattice work crust on top would be mine that requires a lot of patience and reworking.

Yes, making bread in a bread maker I will allow :gikkle: It is baking afterall. I've never had one of those but I have the Oster Kitchen Master that I gave my mom one year that has either mixer or bread hook inserts. Also blender, food processor, and some other attachment :P. When using a bread maker, do you just dump the mix and water in? If so, I might remove the bread maker entries ;).

Well I'm heavier just thinking about baking, so let's exercise our brains and see what happened over the last 6 days on the GA News Blog.

Monday, end of the month meant that Cia held the CSR Discussion Day:

We are all (I think) eager for Spring to arrive. But there is a treat on Tuesday morning a little after 6AM EST, a full eclipse of the moon by the Earth visible in the lower 48 states that will turn the moon the color red, this is because some light from the sun will leak around the Earth despite the moon being in shadow. Not only that but a extremely rare phenomenon called a selenelion ( or selenehelion) that occurs during a total lunar eclipse where the sun rises and the moon sets at the same time. If you're in a high enough location you will be able to turn toward the rising sun and turn around and see the setting moon.

When is this selenelion? 😮 Would being the equivalent height  of Denver, but not right up against the Rockies like them be high enough? I mile above sea level. You will be cutting into my sleep. 4 AM to see an eclipse and dawn is at 6:43 in my neighbourhood.

I bake all the time. Four hundred cookies a week. I also do a pineapple upside-down cake, in a cast-iron to caramelize it before finishing it in the oven.

Baking is too easy though, I prefer cooking to baking. Baking is following the recipe, so easy and boring. I prefer to be creative.

I once dated a baker, but I had to break up with him. He was always trying to get a rise out of me. :)

Spring is my least favorite time of the year, I prefer fall, when we can start to wear all my cute coats and hats to hide my poor bald head.
