Weekly Wrap Up (May 24 - May 30)

What's up puddy cat, whoa, whoooa! Don't read more into that than me just being goofy :P Wait a minute.

I had to go check Myr's fun and new emotes to check in with your moods! Got mine done now. What do you think of them?

I wonder, I need one for Diet Coke the true #1 Cola in the world :gikkle: Are you listening, @Myr 0:)? See, there is a story behind this. Back in the very early 70's when I was a wee little lad, I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. I don't know if at 4 I was drinking cola or not  Then, up here in Canadia, the government decided if you drank about 405 cans of pop a day, you would die of cancer if they had saccharine in them. So they banned it ! Never mind the saccharine, 405 cans a day 😮. So we used to drive to the lower mainland of BC to see relatives 3-4 times a year. We could sneak across the border to Point Roberts, look it up on a map, and Dad would buy like 6 flats of Shasta pop that had saccharine in it. BTW, I'm still alive :P. Then when I was probably in my early teens, Diet Coke came out in Canadia after failed attempts with Tab. I was in heaven 0:). I think I'm still drinking excessive amounts of Diet Coke to catch up since then :)

Now, that leads me to ask... Do you drink any colas? If so what type would be your favourite. You know mine now :) Now I know a lot of you, aka @Krista, are going to lecture me on how the sugar-free pops or really any pops are bad for you. You know you can tell us, just not sure if anyone is going to change their mind on their favourite pop :P I will throw in if you like any carbonated drink. With Buble, or is it Bubbly, I don't partake in flavoured water. Or do you have one of those Soda Stream things. If you do, I know that there was/is the Pepsi line of sodas made cartridges for them. Are they still around? What is your flavour?

If you find yourself running to the fridge to get a soda, I reminds me of a song by Kim Mitchell, Go For a Soda. What the heck, here it is:

Hopefully you have pulled yourself off the ground after you hysterical fit of laughing at 1980's Canadian videos

Enough of this talk, what happened at the GA News blog this week!

Monday, Cia wrapped up the month with the CSR Discussion Day:

Then onto Tuesday we happily skipped along to have Myr bring us a new look at a different genre:

We didn't have anything on Wednesday and Thursday. Val did pop in on Friday with a couple of prompts. Did you check them out?

This Saturday, we had bonus blog. Myr came out and rubbed his crystal ball and gave us a look into the future 😮:

I’m a diet Pepsi drinker. Have been for many years. I used to drink regular Coca Cola but then an article came out saying colas of any stripe decreased calcium absorption for the bones. Being over six-feet tall and gangly I decided that I needed all the calcium I could get. Years later I read a clarification on the study for that previous article and it stated the calcium concern was centered on women. By that time I was a bit older and there is a family trait (mom’s side) of being tall and slim but getting a belly.

Now, as a Gay man out and about I had no interest in falling into the family trend. So when I started drinking cola again — Diet Pepsi filled the bill because it tasted better than Diet Coke. People would ask me why I drank diet pop when I was so skinny? I thought the answer was obvious: I wasn’t downing sugary drinks all day and risking the look of that rounded belly.

Ick. I can’t drink sugar-free anything; they taste horrible. As far as colas go, I think I remember a long ago TV commercial where people chose one of Coke, Pepsi, or Royal Crown (RC). If I were to part in that commercial, I’d have been edited out. I can’t tell the difference from one brand to the next. So I’m happy drinking whatever’s cheapest. Sam’s cola, you win.

I don't drink pop anymore, diet or otherwise, or anything sugary since being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.  I never really cared for cola, although my favorite brand was Coke Classic.  My favorite pop was ginger ale and Squirt.  I do like carbonation though, so I drink flavored sparkling water, and occasionally Ice, although sometimes I find those a little too sweet.

All the diet sodas taste like crap to me.  I love me some Big Red...  But truthfully, rarely drink any soda, just sort of stopped drinking them, no particular reason.  Water, Tea hot or iced, and a variety of juices tend to be my go to.

As always, thanks for the look back at the past week.

Never have I ever drunk a glass of cola.  Whoops wrong game! Used to be a big Fanta limón fan but now go with Schweppes limón cero.  Strong flavour of lemons and sugar ‘free’.

I can't stand coffee in any form, and I am from a family of bitter black coffee drinkers without any sweeteners. When my mom had her first cataract surgery, they had to reschedule because she was so jittery from not having her multiple cups of coffee prior...go figure, and the last thing she did was to have a cuppa just before bed...

I was an inveterate Coke drinker for years as my morning cuppa...When I was told to lose weight, I tried Diet Coke, and I loathed the metallic taste so bad I swore off carbonated caffeine and became a grump. When Coke Zero came out, it was a blessing from the caffeine gods. It is a drink far superior to the pretend wanna be, Diet Coke...hands down! Leastways, that's how I see it here in the center of the universe, Central Massachusetts...

As an aside, we had frigging snowshowers yesterday, so I lit the woodstove and hunkered down with a couple of good reads...

Oh...I nearly forgot, last week's Wall St Journal had a very timely article on the Coke Zero vs Diet Coke debates...
