DIE CHARACTER DIE!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys!

I am again requesting your assistance... this time I need some fun ways to kill off a huge cast of characters. This is fantasy and pretty much anything can go. Help me out please.

I don't need a bunch of detail just a list of ideas.

Thanks!

Plague

Magical/Poison gas

Major magical catastrophe (almost anything goes here, from open a gate to hell, to unleashing a short lived horde of weird, icky things)

War (though this probably requires a fair amount of set up first)

Witchhunters going overboard

Contaminated food/water supply

Volcanic eruption

Someone accidentally makes a thermonuclear device 0:)

I hope that's enough for you to start with :)

thanks guys for your input.... one comment to make so far... FANTASY!

The problem, Lugh, is that Fantasy is a very broad area. It can range from magic through to elves, trolls and then on to just weird settings. A lot of the ideas above can be extended to a fantasy realm (eg. exotic diseases, exotic vehicular accidents (a flying city that crashes), exotic natural disasters (a magical energy storm)), but most require some knowledge the setting before we can suggest them.

Yes, that does. :)

Dragon blood is supposed to be corrosive, and could kill lots of people if it fell on them -- a bleeding dragon flying over head killing lots of people (damn those knights -- can't get a decent kill in and leave the wounded beast to wreck havoc everywhere....)

A dying dragon falls from the sky and lands on some people (variation on the vehicular accident mentioned above :P )

Sacrifices to appease an angry ogre/dragon/monster

An insane unicorn rampaging through a village (and what caused that unicorn's insanity, I wonder...)

An evil witch's curse that causes people to do something that kills them.

I'd add Dragon Stampede, but Dragons are wont to be solitary by nature so any congregation of them would more likely result in a battle between themselves for supremacy and or domain.

The Stampede of Unicorns is rather intriguing though, In most due to its uniqueness Most stories feature Unicorns as Docile animals, I'd Hate to see what a heard of them in an agitated defensive state could do to an unsuspecting population.

good ideas Graeme!

A stampede of Unicorns does sound intersting... as they'd likely have their heads lowered to pierce the critters before them with the horns... but at the same time if you take into account the enormus (sp) amount of localized magical energy, you could have something like a "blastwave" preceding the unicorn stampe charged and directed by the glowing horns. :2hands:

I'll mention one that's already been used, but I think is just so creative, and yes this takes a bit of setup: (It's from The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss) Step 1, there's this addictive psychoactive drug derived from the sap of a certain type of tree; step 2, someone grows an orchard of these in the middle of nowhere; step 3, a dragon stumbles on the grove, takes a nibble, and gets hooked; step 4, dragon consumes grove of psychoactive trees; step 5, dragon suffers withdrawal symptoms and the killing rampage begins.

It's a pity our hero shows up before the dragon really gets going...

Spontanious combustion

Instantanious dehidration (blows away in the wind)

Turned into a frog, then stepped on

Encounters king Midas. Turns to an ingut of gold.

I will spare you MY fantasies....blood, guts, decapitation...nasty details
