colinian Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Also: "TMI" - Too much info... -Kevin I don't see TMI very often, but I have a friend who prefers to IM, and he'll use WWWWWWWTMI! meaning "way way way way way way way too much information!" which I think is funny. The number of W's he uses varies depending on how long he presses the W key on his Sidekick cellphone. Colin
Menzoberranzen Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 What if you say something funny and they simply respond, "LOL"? It's happened sadly. I usually arch my eyebrows until they realise what they said. I could try jumping off a bridge if you prefer, Kevin. Menzo
Site Administrator Graeme Posted December 1, 2007 Site Administrator Posted December 1, 2007 Less common, but LOL can also mean "Lots of Love". LOL, Graeme
AFriendlyFace Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 It's happened sadly. I usually arch my perfectly manicured eyebrows until they realise what they said. There. Fixed it for ya I could try jumping off a bridge if you prefer, Kevin. Don't you dare! I'd miss you horribly -Kevin
Jason Rimbaud Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 I'm just glad that I finally figured out what IMO means. It was driving me crazy. I spent a lot of time staring at those letters and trying to figure it out. If this thread wouldn't have materialized, then I would still be confused what Kevin has been saying. Jason R. (not a fan of this internet lingo at all)

I would have told you if you had asked! LOL I wasn't really aware of how much I did use that one until this thread came about. As a result I've been making more of an effort to spell out. -Kevin
Former Member Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Yeah there is so many internet speech things the worst for me is people who talk with letters and numbers when the e's become 3's and the 4's are supposed to be A's. Since i use the computer alot and spend alot of time talking on msn or in chatrooms or doing email now that i started writing when i want to make a character laugh for example i will go "I lol" then im like WHAT THE HELL! and have to back all that up. Or if someone in my story screams Oh my gosh i put OMG its like AAAHHH NO!!!. It gets bad sometimes when i'll be in the real world and somebody will tell me a real funny joke and i'll be laughing and say "LOL!" Then i have to hit myself in the forehead a few times.

Problem is people use cell phones that have dumb keypads and it's easier to key numbers than letters, thus the 1=L or I (figure it out in context, ), 2=to or too (figure it out in context, ), 3=E, 4=A, 5=S, 6=G, 7=T, 8=B, 9=9, and 0=O. Colin
myself_i_must_remake Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 i like GTFO. get the f**K out. it's fun to look at someone and point at a door and say the letters with a really straight face. and i just asked rich_e why i'm intimidating... jee i wonder.

Lugh Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 my son does this to me all the time... I'll ask him a question and he will respond "IDK". I also get "LOL" from him occasionally. However when he texts me he knows he best not use "too many" abbreviations or I won't read it. one to add: PITA -- pain in the 455
BeaStKid Posted February 3, 2008 Author Posted February 3, 2008 However when he texts me he knows he best not use "too many" abbreviations or I won't read it. even i have stopped using them while texting.... lol

Tristan Thinks Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 JFGI = Just f**king Google It (it's worth clicking the link )
GaryK Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 OK Tris, if you wanna go that route then how about: RTFM - Read the F**king Manual !!! BTW, clicking the link results in a Server Not Found error!
Site Administrator Graeme Posted March 15, 2008 Site Administrator Posted March 15, 2008 RTFM - Read the F**king Manual !!! As a side note, there used to be a technical writing company in Melbourne called RTFM. They had an official explanation of the anagram, but the one above was the real one.....
GaryK Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 As a side note, there used to be a technical writing company in Melbourne called RTFM. They had an official explanation of the anagram, but the one above was the real one..... That's too funny!
Tristan Thinks Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 BTW, clicking the link results in a Server Not Found error! Yeah, because the stoopid language police even censor the URLs! (hover the cursor over the link and look at the address in the browser status bar) RTFM is often defined as Read The Fine Manual, but we all know what the F really stands for!
