Your Car: What is it?

Recommended Posts

I think that you can tell a lot by a person by the car that they drive. Some would argue that it's the car that they WANT that describes an individual, but I disagree. When you buy a car you have to make multiple compromises: Budgetary (for some), room/space, performance/handling, etc.

So what do you drive?

As for me: A Subaru WRX (Platinum Silver). It's a small, fast land rocket that handles amazingly well (credit goes to all wheel drive) and can go through any kind of weather.

I drive a 2001 Chevy Impala. It is Champagne in color. It drives nice, and I like it. It was really my only option. I used to drive a 94 bright blue Ford Escort Station wagon. I got that car for free. My Impala I got from my Dad's Aunt's brother. It had 40,000 miles, and I paid 6 grand for it.

I used to drive a Deep Sapphire Blue Pearl 2001 Dodge Intrepid ES, loaded with leather seating, CD changer, moonroof, uplevel engine, polished exhaust tip, aluminum wheels, foglights, and an Overhead Travel Information System which display compass heading, outside temperature, average MPG, instant MPG, and contained a 3-button homelink (garage door openers). I loved that car to death and hated myself for wrecking it one fine April morning in 2005.

I had a choice between two cars for my next car (dad buys em cheap from the company he works for, they're former salesmans cars) -- 2003 Ford Taurus, or 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix. Since I didn't want to be stranded on the side of the road, I chose the Pontiac without hesitation. It's a base model, color is Ivory (off-white), no options at all. In the 3.5 years and 45,000 miles that I've had it, I replaced the entire audio system with that of an enthusiast-grade audio system (that thing that goes bump in the night is just me coming home from somewhere hehe). The stock headlights are crap, so they were replaced with HID bulbs, and soon will be replaced with a projector system that you see in many luxury cars and now new cars. The cloth seating was replaced with leather. The steel wheels were replaced with 18" alloy wheels. The exhaust and intake were both modified for more power, and now make the car more aggressive.

The car was rear-ended the day before thanksgiving in 2008 so now I am on the hunt for a new bumper while the current bumper looks like ass.

What car do I want? 2010 Pontiac G8 GT -- any color, with leather and a sunroof. 2010 Chevrolet Camaro -- any engine, with leather.

Well, I didnt pick my car, my mom got it for me, $300 from my Uncle. First it was my grandfather's wife (we do NOT call her grandmother) then it was my Uncle's.

Its a '95 Subaru Legacy Sedan. Its silver except the spots where my Uncle tried spray-painting it differnt shades of gray and the spots of rust. Its dented where he got into accidents and there are stickers on it that say things like: "Kiss my Tattoo" and "Its not the speed, its the sudden stops".

There is something leaking in my engine so the engine light is ALWAYS on, the tape player doesnt work and the gas gauge is broken so I have to press the mile-thinger so I can fill up every 220 miles.

But, it runs... thats all I care about at the moment.

I hope you Cant tell Anything about me from this car.

Here's the car I really want...

It's a Bugatti Veyron 16.4...16 cylinder, 1,001 hp...

Unfortunately, the MSRP for the base model is $1.2 million, so I'm sticking with the old Chrysler for now.

I rented a car a couple of months ago for a business road trip and it was one of those days when you just get lucky. I was supposed to rent a Pontiac G6 or Nissan Altima, but the rental car agent liked me (surprisingly enough, I can be very charming) and upgraded me to a new G8. It was black on black, and had less than 2000 miles on it.

I've had my share of sport sedans, culminating in a 2000 BMW 540i that was a total piece of shit, so I'm not easily impressed. I was by the G8. It was powerful, smooth, and a blast to drive. The only nits were typical GM bullshit. The rearview mirror had an illuminated sign telling me that the passenger airbag was off (duh, there was no passenger) but the glow at night was distracting. Stuff like that.

'98 Nissan Frontier. It's red and covered with stickers. Everything is simple/manual. There is no power anything, nothing talks at me, and nothing trys to drive for me. (I like it that way.) I'm very happy with it because it handels better than I ever imagined a pickup could. It also gets almost 24 mpg which is better than some new cars.

If I were to buy a second car just for fun it would be a dark blue Nissan Z with 6 speed manual transmision. That's my dream car at the moment.

You know it is funny, but if I were to buy a 2nd car it would be a 1972 Datsun Pickup truck, maybe the same year Toyota truck. They ran forever on less gas and were trouble free.

You realize how old that makes you sound? :D

Grumpy old man voice: "They just don't make these cars like they used to. Back in '72, now that's when you could get a good truck. They knew how to built them back then, that's for dang sure."

We have two vehicles, a Mitsubishi Mirage and a Mitsubish Triton. I drive the Mirage (the small vehicle) as it's a lot easier to drive in city traffic than the Triton. My wife drives the Triton, as it's the only vehicle we have that's capable of pulling a horse float.

We had a yellow Ferrari on our wedding list, but no one bought us one. We're still waiting to win the lottery so we can buy one... and hopefully have enough left over to get the road and driveway sealed so we could drive it with completely destroying the undercarriage.

And spit out a bunch of Carbon too. About the age thing, I'm frozen in time. I'm not getting any older. B)
