I need a German place name for my story

One of the characters in my new story "The Valley of the Dwarfs" comes from a farming community called "Three Valleys." I want to use a German equivalent. Not remembering enough German from what I took in college over forty years ago and looking out on the web, the best I came up with is Dreitales.

I'd appreciate it if someone could confirm my guess or let me know an appropriate option.

Thanks

There are so many rich place names in Germany- Wurtzberg, Kiel, Wilhelmshaven, Wiesbaden (where I was born).

They all sound like something you might find on a map of Middle Earth.

If you look closely at Bruegel's The Corn Harvest, you might actually see the character who needed the place-name. He's in there. Or, is here standing behind the artist and looking over his shoulder.

Yes, the painting portrays Belguim and the time period is a quite a bit later than I want, but the landscape is fairly close to what I'm imagining. And, yes, Germany is chock full of interesting place-names. I had fun with a ton of "burgs" in my last story.

I'm a native speaker of German so I'll try to help... typically when the word for valley shows up in a place name, it's spelled with a th (older spelling - most places are older than modern orthography). I could see something like Dreithal maybe (without a plural ending, which would be -er, but that would sound more like a person's last name). Dreithalen might be possible, but it would obscure the meaning somewhat (you might actually want that, but if you don't, I would go with the first version). Hope that helps!

Obscure, now that works!

Thanks

As one character (the local superintendant of the dwarf mine) says, "Dreithal is recorded in the Great Log of Dwarf Mines." :pickaxe:
