I had a theory about Kel, but after reading today's chapter, I think my theory no longer makes sense. A variation of it might and it might also explain Jensen's reticence for a relationship with Merrick. Jensen alluded to many reasons for not having a relationship with Merrick, what happened with Kel is a part of that, I have no doubt As for something developing between Landin and Barnaby, I'm not sure how that would work with Landin being Barnaby's subordinate.
