I have to support my fellow moderator. Zero is a word and a number. It's not a digit. Numbers are a mathematical construct that can be represented in many different ways. Textually, using words, is one such way. Using digits is another. Roman numerals is a third way, though their representation of zero was just to leave a blank/empty spot... Zero (0).
