Coffee with my new friend was awesome. We have so much in common. We like a lot of the same things (but not enough for conversation to get boring), we talked about practically everything. I talked about gender, he asked good, respectful and well informed questions, I just had the most wonderful time. And he’s a little bit queer. Like, he doesn’t want to put a label on it, but he says he’s not entirely straight. Which is cool. Means if he wants he’ll fit in nicely with my friends. Even though I’m definitely on my way into a depressive episode, I feel happy right now. New friends are great.

So, I don’t know if anyone here has heard of the Norwegian author Karl Ove Knausgård, but I just watched a 90 minute take-down of his awful, misogynistic, rape apologist, homophobic, borderline Nazi six volume memoir by a woman who used to babysit me as a kid, and it was glorious. This has been a good day.

I'm in a love/hate relationship with my Amazon Fire tablet. It does everything I need, but it's a pain in the backside to type on. I'd still would recommend it.

Get a keyboard for it.

Anyone else occasionally find themselves reading their own old stories and thinking, damn, this is actually pretty good? Or am I a particular brand of narcissist?

Morning, everybody. Hope you're all well. Tired today. Possibly too much social interaction for this introvert yesterday. And I find myself having one of those second guessing my worth and wondering if people actually like me or not days.

Sometimes...

More often I read and groan. "Damn this sucks" is more likely to come out of my mouth.

I mean, it depends on how far back I go. If it's pre-2013, I'm more likely to think it's terrible. But I think that year is when I really came into my own as a writer... When I got here, basically.

My experience is different. I never wrote fiction before I joined GA and almost everything I've scribbled's out there for people to see.

most of my early work is poetry... it is my heart and soul during some horrible times, when it was all i had. there were no friends or family, only poetry.  my later prose such as Michael and Me, simply shows my growth. it was my skill level at the time ... i've become so much better.

the only way we get better is to write and READ! ... so @Carlos Hazday embrace the past because without it, you wouldn't be where you are

Exactly this. And I think occasionally rereading things you wrote a long time ago can be beneficial for further development and improvement.

I have some stuff published under a different pen name from ages ago, though, and it's so, so bad! :facepalm:I am never divulging that pen name to anyone here. Ever. I'd delete every account I had, but truth be told, I don't remember my passwords and don't even have access to the e-mail addresses I used back then.
