The Drop in Centre

I have to admit. I'm a little out of sorts tonight. My husband and I went to see Sound of Freedom. I can't say that I enjoyed the movie because of the subject matter. However, it was an excellent film. The sole purpose of the movie is to bring awareness to the atrocities of the world wide child sex trafficking epidemic. It's based on a true story of a Homeland Security agent and his dedication to not only bringing down those perpetuating the crime, but rescuing the children. I know y'all know my view on child predators. There is no punishment severe enough. This movie shines a spotlight on a subject too many people turn their heads to. It's hard to watch, but honestly it was done with sensitivity and didn't overdramatize anything. It's worth seeing despite being hard to watch.

i can understand why you are out of sorts. Child abuse, child porn, children exploited  so often by so many in so many ways.  i was a child forced into sex . i watched what trying to stop the abuse of children did to Michael.

it's horrific, disgusting and i don't understand it

i don't believe we'll ever stop it, because so few really care until it happens to their child ... and then it's too late. They will never be the same, even though you try to put it behind you, it's always there. Shrinks, drugs, loving families cannot truly keep those memories away.

We can't stop it because the monsters aren't just under the bed or in the closet, they are the neighbour, the teacher, the scout leader, the coach, the priest, the cop, the doctor and so many more. They are all people we are brought up to respect and trust with our kids

i'm glad it was a good film, maybe some people will start to see the invisible kids and their abusers because of it.  i don't think i can go and watch it but i hope it does some good.

This is good news, rick!  I know patience's hard after so long, but try to be and let your body heal.

On Sunday, I spent several hours with a notepad and pen, trying to think up a name for my lemon tree. Should I go for something silly? Poetic? Or maybe I'll be quirky and give the plant a human name, such as Steve. After writing down and scratching out as many names as I could think of, I was at a loss. Naming human characters is easier. My son, Max, looked at the notebook from over my shoulder, then looked at the tree for a moment. He then announced that the tree is non-binary, and their name is Lem. He spoke with all the imperialism of a king issuing a royal decree.

So, Lem it is.

This is especially true for those of us who like to eat cake.

lessons learned from the last few weeks.....

sometimes, knowledge isn't fun. like when you know before anyone else BUT the manager about layoffs...

a good nights sleep doesn't always make things better...

BUT the sun always rises, even after a bad night...

having all of your children, adult children, back at home is both a blessing and a curse...

puppies playing in the sprinkler can make you smile...

106 F is too freaking hot...

starting with a new therapist is scary, but i'm hopeful...

take care y'all

Lovely to hear from you Molly.  I was wondering how you were.

I've never heard of that cake.  It looks lovely.

There's a variation of that cake that is popular in the Southern US. Church ladies will often gather and form a production line to knock these out for sale around holiday times. I've seen them in action, and it's quite impressive. We add the cake layers only because it would be considered uncivilized to just eat a big block of chocolate, but OMG they are delicious if you love chocolate.

And we have pistachio butter! Time consuming but delicious. Think part of the problem may be my little food processor is a tad under powered for grinding nuts.

Now, off to figure out why I am not getting any notifications from the DIC.

You had something like this before, didn't you .. or was it you were getting kicked out?  That was weird.

Last time I was being kicked out. This time I had gotten an email about notification settings that I guess I picked a wrong option resulting in my phone binging every post on every bit of content I follow, then while trying to fix that somehow shut down notices from here. I THINK I have it fixed.  But then, I thought I had fixed things in the first place!
