It was the County Sheriff’s Department with a summons for me. it is for Grand Jury duty here in my county. They only meet 1 day a week for 3 months. Not sure if you know this but the Grand Jury hears all the evidence on a case and they decide if they should get a court date. The service is pretty laid back with jury sitting around a table and have the Police / Sheriff in front of you. Most of the trails are drug related once in a while you get an armed assault. Get a behind the scenes tour of the courthouse and the local jail. So it sounds interesting this starts the week of July 8. So I hope everyone stays dry or cool. Oh, that does sound interesting. I'd be up for that! 5

Next appointment in 3 weeks for stent removal ( should be pain free then ) and a scan in about 6 weeks to see if the surgery was successful. You certainly had to wait a long time for surgery didn't you ? Hopefully you recover quickly and don't have to worry about any more pain. 4

It happens, but writing a poem is writing. I have written nine books of them. It's writing, and it counts. The rest are necessary chores, and your brain puts them first—well, except for #6, which is just relaxation and fun—both of which are required in life. Maybe that chapter doesn't require so much rewriting. 5

Mikiesboy Posted June 17 Author Posted June 17 It's Monday... Gonna be a super hot week this week, so they tell us. We have a heat warning from Monday to Monday. So that'll be fun. Stay cool, drink lots of fluids. Don't do crazy things. This week is also Pollinator Week... bee kind! 5
Popular Post Mikiesboy Posted June 17 Author Popular Post Posted June 17 Also, an author has been PM'ing me daily for the last few days. Today was about following stories and authors, how many follow you or the story, and the number of views. I told him that doesn't matter much to me. It used to, but looking at my own behaviour and choices, I cannot fault others for theirs, so I stopped being so concerned about the numbers. If a poem gets 100 views, that is good enough for me. Today, I told him all of this and that life is too short to worry about it.. and then i found this about life being too short in my inbox: Life is too short to worry, try not to. 7

I think society has become too invested in numbers, especially those who grew up with social media. It's not about the likes or the comment, it's about enjoying a story no matter how many people are following. Stay cool and I hope everyone has a good day! 5

But what I really do appreciate is the comments, because it brings a human factor back in. Makes me feel like I am writing for someone, and not just for myself and into the void. I crave human connection :f 17 minutes ago, kbois said: Stay cool and I hope everyone has a good day! You too. I hope everyone gets the kind of weather they wish for. 💜 1 4
Popular Post Kitt Posted June 17 Popular Post Posted June 17 Weather forcasts like this week make me extremely glad I can pretty much set my own schedule, barring an emergency transport of course. I was at the barn by 6:30 and done chores and home by 9. Today's home chore list was done by noon, and I am now in my recliner binging a show I enjoy but stopped watching because I got way behind. I am now contemplating the idea of a nap. 6

I'm big on working in my garden (city lot, mostly flowers, Blooming bushes. potted vegetables. and a lot of garden art) and have a "Bee Kind" sign in the front yard. The weather has been so strange this past year. More rain this mild winter, and 30 inches less snow then normal. The perennial flowers and bushes have been blooming 3 to 4 weeks early this year. The planet warming, has thrown what was normal weather, out the window. I feel we have been very lucky, when I see the extreme weather that others are dealing with. Nothing is normal anymore, and I feel so sorry for the future generations. Sorry for the rant, but the world needs to take climate change serious, 3 1

About 8 or 9 years ago I was with my work wife and we were getting in the car after eating lunch at a local restaurant. It was mid January and I noticed that the cherry blossom trees were starting to flower. Granted I'm in the southern US, but still, that's really early. It wasn't a one off event, they now start blooming in January. Everything that blooms seems to have moved up by a month or more. The dog days of summer that used to be in August now starts in June. @Flip-Flop hit the nail on the head, and you're right that we need to stop while we still can. 1 4
