hi i hope everyone is staying cool we are having a Heat Wave till 8 pm. What is July without some heat.

not sure if you know but having another surgery on Monday July 8 the sad thing is they wait till the last minute to have 3 more test ran. I had a X-ray : CRT Scan ( hated that one couldn’t move an inch and i had to sneeze) and another set of bloodwork. With all the bloodwork I might ask for a port i feel like a pin cushion.

Happy Thursday and to our 'Merican friends happy July 4th...  Rather than post fireworks, i found some fun Fourth of July facts:

1. John Adams thought Independence Day should be celebrated on July 2 because that’s the day the Continental Congress officially declared its freedom from Great Britain.

2. The 4th of July doesn’t celebrate the signing of the Declaration, but the adoption of the Declaration by the Second Continental Congress.

3. On June 11, 1776, Congress appointed a Committee of Five to draft a Declaration of Independence. The committee members were John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Robert Livingston, Roger Sherman and, most famously, Thomas Jefferson.

4. The Declaration of Independence was signed by 56 men.

5. John Hancock was the first to sign the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. He was president of Congress at the time.

6. Charles Thomson, secretary of Congress in 1776, was the second to sign.

7. Most of the signers of the Declaration signed the document on August 2, 1776.

8. The first Independence Day celebrations actually took place on July 8, 1776, in Philadelphia. It featured a public reading of the Declaration of Independence, announced by the ringing of the Liberty Bell.

9. The Pennsylvania Evening Post was the first newspaper to print the Declaration on July 6, 1776.

12. Calvin Coolidge, the 30th president, was born on July 4, 1872.

13. The song “Yankee Doodle” was originally sung by the British army to make fun of Americans.

14. Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey to be the United States’ national bird, but John Adams and Thomas Jefferson recommended the bald eagle, which won the title.

15. Americans eat approximately 150 million hot dogs on the 4th of July. That’s enough to stretch from D.C. to Los Angeles more than five times.

16. China makes the majority of American flags — approximately $3.3 million worth each year.

17. We eat burgers and hot dogs on the 4th of July these days, but John Adams and his wife celebrated with turtle soup. New Englanders enjoyed poached salmon with egg sauce, green peas and boiled potatoes for their 4th of July meal in 1776.

18. Red, white and … green? Back in the day, paper wasn’t readily available, especially in colors — so early Americans decorated with greenery. George Washington and soldiers wore greenery in their hats to show their patriotism.

myself this is my Saturday to work so been at it since 7 am only working till noon. i have to drop off my laptop to work so they can work on it while i’m off, so it works out for both of us.

Being a bit of a night owl and retired, I appreciate restful naps and power naps at my leisure. Enjoy yours. With the hot and humid days of late, a siesta is often required. Enjoy it guilt free.  PS----I have really appreciated your current stories, they are  excellent writings.

So I went to my parents for a cookout and ended up arguing/discussing (I called it an argument, he called it a discussion) with one of their "friends" on why I shouldn't be single.  Weirdo.  Later he told me I was too skinny (excuse YOU sir).  Why does a 70 year old guy think I'm going to care about his opinion??  What is wrong with people??

People need to learn to mind their own damn business. The only one entitled to comment on your relationship status or weight is you. Back off Boomer. Sorry you had to deal with that ignoramus.

There are too many 'experts' around. I totally blame the internet and social media for nearly everything except global warming. But I admit I could be wrong about that.

I hope you told him to back off and that opinions are only valuable when asked for. Grrr.

I didn't appreciate the fact that he thought I was "wrong" for choosing to be single, but I didn't want to offend a friend of the family.  By the time the weight comment came around he was pretty drunk, so I snapped back a little.  But that's an extremely sensitive topic for me.

WARNING: Chocolate Rant Ahead:  If you're going to have chocolate, get something good. I don't eat a lot of chocolate, but a while ago, my Husband promised me a Crunchie Bar. I loved them once upon a time. It took him a while to find one, but he did. I'm grateful to Him, but it seems in the world of chocolate bars, they are now candy bars, and it tasted, well, like crap. That brown coating is no longer chocolate and not worth eating.  From now on, if I want chocolate, that's what I will buy.  Chocolate rant over.
