LOL, well I think the bridge is OK now - although searching for the story brought up several articles asking Are Australia's bridges safe ? 1 5

Same to you, clo --------- Hope you're all having a good Sunday. Here in Ireland, Met Éireann have issued a status yellow rain warning (with up to 25 to 35 mm precipitation) for the rest of the day for much of the south, east and west of the country, a status yellow snow and ice warning overnight for the same areas, and a status yellow gale warning for much of the coastal areas. Sometimes I'm happy to be living in the (usually wet) northwest. Morning, Marty! We are headed for another cold freeze. Minus 19 C tonight plus the wind chill... come on, spring.... 7

It appears that, unusually, Ireland may suffer the least from it. I say unusually because normally Ireland (being further west) protects Britain from the worst of the Atlantic storms. It looks as though Wales might bear the brunt of this particular storm... https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-wales-47432609 Yikes! 4

Today they say 3 to 6 with a period of ice in the middle, and I see no signs of prep among my neighbors. Grocery store even had milk and bread, something the word snow seems to make disappear. If the weather geeks are right we are in trouble! Morning, Kitt. I'm not getting the snow that's predicted... it's been that way all winter. 5

I have a friend who lived there ages ago. He said going over the bridge over the river was always a bit scary, due to the accident where a section fell off during a foggy night. Hmm, trying to find some info about that accident, and failing. Am I getting the city wrong? Ummm do you mean Hobart? 5 1

Mind you, I think it was incredibly stupid of the British and Irish meteorological offices 5 or 6 years ago to decide to start giving names to the storms coming in off the Atlantic... That just gave the storms big heads and made them think they were more important than they really are, so they have now started to become more frequent and more violent. Hi, Gary, by the way! 1 8

Did they have a bridge with a long rise and a sharp dip, and a barge struck a pillar, so the section with the dip fell down ? Hmm, I looked the Tasman bridge up, but it doesn't sound familiar. Perhaps my friend was worried a similar accident might occur on the bridge in Perth. I was told the story more than 25 years ago, so my memory could be at fault.
