Cool. My ex-girlfriend went to uni in Melbourne (she wasn't my girlfriend at the time), and my stepbrother in Brisbane, but I never got round to visiting either of them while they were there. I'd like to visit Australia, though if I do it would have to be when it's winter for you guys or I would, as previously mentioned, melt.

Here in Ireland, Met Éireann have issued a status yellow rain warning (with up to 25 to 35 mm precipitation) for the rest of the day for much of the south, east and west of the country, a status yellow snow and ice warning overnight for the same areas, and a status yellow gale warning for much of the coastal areas. Sometimes I'm happy to be living in the (usually wet) northwest.

They said it would snow however not so far

Apparently Storm Freya is tracking in from the Atlantic over Ireland and Britain. It appears that, unusually, Ireland may suffer the least from it. I say unusually because normally Ireland (being further west) protects Britain from the worst of the Atlantic storms.

 

It looks as though Wales might bear the brunt of this particular storm...

They have predicted 1 to 3 inches bbn of snow every couple days for about 3 weeks now, and we have barely covered the grass.  Today they say 3 to 6 with a period of ice in the middle, and I see no signs of prep among my neighbors. Grocery store even had milk and bread, something the word snow seems to make disappear. If the weather geeks are right we are in trouble!

We're slightly on her path too. Dad went in emergency to his parents last night at Le Crotoy, north west coast, and the winds were very strong.
