@Marty We were talking about it earlier and the government just made it official. Orange alert for strong winds starting today and until Monday 4pm. My grandparents are in the second bloc starting from the top and on the left, on the coast. We're just in the one underneath, on top of Paris.

I'm doing good thanks. Wet and windy here in Ireland, and forecast says yellow warning for wind (and maybe a bit of snow). Had a nice start to the day - met a good friend for breakfast.

Played with my point and shoot Canon Powershot ELPH 300... it's only 12.1 MP and 5X zoom, and the lens thingy fell off while I was out there... I'm trying to decide if I should get a new camera... whether I will use it... anyway, I don't know why this is blurry...

Were you zoomed in 5x when you took that shot? The smallest of camera shake at full zoom could have caused the blurriness.

 

As for whether you need a new camera, that's really for you to decide. What do you want to use it for? And, if it's only "snap-shots" you are wanting to take, most modern day camera phones take excellent ones.

 

And that's still a nice photo of Cookie, anyway.  (Hope I got the bitch's name right )

I've noticed that sort of blurry quality to other snow scene photos. I think it has something to do with the temp and relative humidity close to the snowpack.

Yeah, that's her name.   My phone is a Galaxy S3, so the camera is outdated, but the phone works perfectly, and I don't use it much. I might upgrade for the camera's sake, but I kind of like the idea of having a good separate camera. I'm really not sure...

Well, the lens thingy did fall off while I was out there, and when I tried to put it back on, the lens may have gotten wet. The first photos weren't blurry. Damn it's hard to get a photo of her standing still... she must have ran ten miles nonstop...

I had a Galaxy S3 a number of years back and, yes, the camera on it isn't the best. I currently have a Galaxy A5 (2017) and that takes cracking photos - every bit as good as most of the point-and-shoot cameras I've used in the past.

 

I'm not suggesting you shouldn't get a separate camera. There's advantages to doing that as well.
