I'm hoping this blows over soon, but in the meantime I'm using it as a chance to catch up on some school work. 1 5

It's different in here... Is everyone being safe and staying healthY? Curti! It's nice to see you again. Everything is going fine in my neck of the woods. All of the bars and restaurants are closed, except for delivery, takeout, and drive-thru service. Went grocery shopping last night. Flour, toilet paper, Kleenex/paper towels and pasta were almost gone. Eggs, potatoes, "mass market" bread, and all household cleaners were completely wiped out. The meat department was also picked over, and the deli/bakery areas were shut down. On the bright side, the store wasn't terribly busy. 4

Popular Post dughlas Posted March 17, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 17, 2020 So I took mum out for breakfast this morning, likely the last time for a while. The restaurant was pretty empty so social distancing was easy. We then went to the bank and to keep her appointment to have her hair cut. The shop is small, just one stylist and only one other customer who arrived just as mum was finished. From there we went to Home Depot to get the supplies for some outdoor projects. Mum pushed the cart after sanitizing the handle and her own hands. She wasn't allowed to touch anything else. Again there weren't many folks and people kept their distance. After that we went thorough the drive thru at Starbucks. Our last stop was Publix to stock up on a few things. Again she wasn't allowed to touch anything but the three apples she selected. It was busier but kind of necessary that we shop to avoid needing to do it later when the risk of exposure might be greater. It's not likely that she'll go anywhere outside the complex for the next few weeks. Exception being to walk on the beach or at a nearby botanical garden where her contact with others will be minimal. I'll be the one to run errands and will try to limit those. I don't plan on going anywhere before Friday when I take Thistle to day camp and a bath. We heard this morning that there was a fourth confirmed case in this area. The most recent had gone to the ER of our closet hospital so now both local hospitals have had exposure. Since we are both in the population for potentially severe illness we're taking extra precautions. Mum is currently sanitizing the kitchen countertops and her bathroom. There is hand sanitizer in my car and as soon as I get back in it, before even starting it I clean my hands. We will practice self isolation for the most part and social distancing when necessary. Mum says she remembers the polio scare having worked in polio ward as a nursing student. She will take care. 6

Stores haven't been too busy for me... but they tend to be pretty picked over. I feel really bad for people in service industries right now... My own job is closed, but at least I'm getting paid, most of these restaurants don't have the ability to pay their employees without business. 44 minutes ago, dughlas said: I knew I should have had the waffles for breakfast. Popular Post clochette Posted March 17, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 17, 2020 (edited) I went grocery shopping late morning. It was busy but less than on a December 24th so it was ok. It was back to normal by the time I finished. The shelves were half emptied but employees were already hard at work stocking back. On my way back I dropped a few groceries to my brother who's on sick leave for the week with a slight bronchitis and took his dirty laundry but he looked normal (dress but half awake, dirty socks on his feet and playing videogames) but at least that way he doesn't come in the house. Since 12am the country is on house bound. We are not allowed to regrouo. If you have to go out you have to carry a paper stating you're out for a good reason: groceries (respecting the meter distance), going to a medical appointment, work if you really can't do it from home, to see and take care of some elderly/sick/handicap family members, or just around the block to walk your dog or just a little run all by yourself but not too far away from home. If a police officer controls you and you can't show this paper you can have a 135€ fine! Edited March 17, 2020 by clochette 7
