The Irish have a tradition of wearing kilts, as well as the Scots. Yep, that's what I was implying when I said "one wearin' a kilt" not "the one wearin' a kilt". We get lads of both Irish and Scots heritage in the shop so I've researched and have reference materials on hand for both.

While it's commonly district or county tartans in Ireland several of the more prominent family do have their own, i.e., the O'Neill,  Kennedy and others.

Good morning, all

Another morning that feels distinctly chilly here in the northwest of Ireland, at least in comparison to much of the past couple of weeks. Currently around 9°C (48°F), but feeling a fair bit cooler due to  northeasterly breeze, Mainly sunny, though, with no rain forecast.

Seems like that may be the pattern for much of this week. There's an area of high pressure in the Atlantic, currently to the northwest of Ireland, which isn't forecast to move a great deal over the next 4 days or so. It will maintain a pattern of cold, polar winds over Ireland, but should not bring any significant rain. The nights will be cold, though, getting close to 0°C (32°F) some nights, with a risk of grass frosts.

I took my trays of runner bean seeds indoors last night and left them on a windowsill. They may have to stay there until the temperatures start to rise again. Thankfully, the seed potatoes I planted last week have no shoots above ground yet. Currently 45 of the 50 onion sets I planted on the 30th of April have sprouted, and I'm sure the others will push their little green shoots up out of the soil in the next day or two. Thankfully, onions, unlike potatoes, are not sensitive to frost. And I have beetroot seedlings starting to emerge.

Happy Monday gang,

It's sunny but terribly windy here. The temperatures dropped almost overnight from 25 to barely 10°C today and it's supposed to only be 2°C in the morning! 🥶

I had my first appointment with the new endocrinologist this morning. She's very nice. She's going to look over my file from the previous one from the start and want to see me soon and regularly to see what works for me and really work with me on this. She's also advised I go to a speaking group, kind of like the AA but for overweight people  But no pressure if I don't like it. 

I then went shopping to a small grocery store specialized in green devils, meats and dairy, kind of like a farmer marker with fresh and local products. I was shocked at all the covidiots there was. And it was nothing to the mass of people waiting in front of clothes stores there was this afternoon when I went with my brother to Cultura

So yeah I went "shopping" with my brother this afternoon - wait does this means we're covidiots too  - and convince him to go to the garden store I bought food and soil for the lemon tree and I was very reasonable and only 1 plant of cuor di bue tomato and one of Black Krim it's all I was allowed to bought cause it would have dirty his car (which is littered with shopping receipts and 8 weeks worth of travel authorizations )
