I've heard about chicken noodles soup through stories/movies/series but never had it. Never heard about the other. Zuppa Toscana is a soup created by an "Italian" restaurant chain which contains potatoes, sausage, and collard greens in chicken broth. It's very tasty, but it bears a resemblance to a soup known as "Caldo Verde". Which is actually Portuguese. 5

I'd have a little more to eat after, like a cheese sandwich or a light meal Edited November 18, 2020 by clochette 6 1

Popular Post Marty Posted November 18, 2020 Popular Post Posted November 18, 2020 Well, as much fun this last hour or so has all been, I promised myself when I got up this "morning" that I wouldn't stay up too late this time. But it's now fast approaching 1:00am, so that is another promise I have failed to keep. I'm off to bed, folks! 1 3 3

Marty we mostly prefer what we refer to as hearty soups, something akin to a stew without thickening the broth. Also, remember Americans tend not to have multiple courses to our meals. We don't typically have a starter course. We often treat salads as a side or as the main rather than a separate course. We might have appetizers or separate soup or salad courses is when we dine out but rarely at home. Edited November 18, 2020 by dughlas 5 1

Lighter soups definitely need something else to accompany them. Stews are like a thick soup, but I tend to think of them as being served over something, like rice or pasta. I also think of stews as having gravy as opposed to broth. 6

Popular Post Sherye Story Reader Posted November 18, 2020 Popular Post Posted November 18, 2020 The main difference between soup and stew is in the primary ingredient liquid. Soup can either e completely liquified, or it can include other ingredients such as meat, fish, or vegetables which are fully submerged in broth, water or stock. Stew, however, is much heartier and thicker than soup and can also be used as a main course. Most people have sandwiches with soup but not all. 7
