Happy Sunday, all! I'm stunned at what has happened in Afghanistan, and hope the country finds peace soon, for their sake and for the world's.

I'd gladly send you a bit of the lovely day we're having here. Bright sunshine, 80/27° with comfortable humidity and a gentle breeze.

Very much like what happened 20 odd years ago when they first gained control of the country. I feel for those people, especially the young women about to be forced into chattelhood.

A male goldfinch just landed among my purple coneflowers. He's the first I've seen this summer though I've seen others in years past. I had thought about cutting the flowers back to encourage them to rebloom but since the finches are feeding on the seeds I'll leave them.

  They were described as nothing more than sex slaves on the news this morning, and they are terrified. It is heartbreaking.

I have seen a few of them around here over the years. Not many... they were everywhere where we lived in New Brunswick when I was a kid. They used to fly around in big flocks. :)

I saw a kingfisher resting on a fence post this morning. He had a tiny fish in his beak. Then he flew away when my nephew, Grant, went over to investigate. It was beautiful to watch the bird in flight.  :)

Pub worker arrives to open for the day to find a huge mob of kangaroos looking like they can't wait to get inside for a pint

The eager group of kangaroos are found waiting outside the local pub in a video posted to TikTok

I eventually got to sleep. Decided to WFH after ignoring my alarm :)

Great find… so good to have them visit your garden :)
