Max and I recently saw a movie starring Levi Miller. He had to stay with his grandfather in Australia, on a farm located south of Dampier. When he arrived, the lad questioned his granddad about spiders, snakes, etc, and when he was finished, the kid says "Is everything in this country out to kill you?" 

As an Aussie born and bred, Levi would already know the answer to that, but I think his character was American.

Yeah, I think it might have been a cattle farm, but there weren't many cattle seen in the story. It had more to do with "a boy and his dog". No helicopters, though. The drovers had horses, and the lad had an old dirt bike.

Oh, I've got the DVD in my hand now. The film is called Red Dog: True Blue.

While we are on the topic of the friendly Australian animals, I learnt something new today. Male platypuses are only seasonally venomous - apparently it’s all about sexual conquest and beating the other males. Not all year round  

However there was some bad news if you are one of the very few humans to get injected with the toxin. The serious pain will last for several months and the muscle wasting can last for years and years. A very stable toxin apparently. Aussie animals lead the world

Third heatwave of the summer... over 20°C at sunrise and to reach near 40° in the afternoon until Saturday.

Fires are spreading and those that were buried from a couple of weeks ago have started back. 7 big fires: somewhere between Paris and Bretagne, on the west coast, the south and on the east near the mountains. Propagation was evaluated at 10 soccer fields per minute burned during the night!!

Over 100 cities are out of drinking water and the bottom 2/3 of the country is in orange and red alert for drought...
